17 Old Hollywood Movies That Were Almost Banned For Being Gay

The old Hollywood films had to follow strict guidelines during the 1930s, known as the Hays code. This mainly prevented all American films from displaying anything that was sexual or “inappropriate”, forcing many filmmakers to be creative on how to move in potential censorship. I have runboxd lists of each Old Hollywood and LGBTQ+ The movie I watch, so I took off through them to find a handful of the Hays code, which is skillfully (not skillfully). Here are some favorites. Enjoy!
1.
The rebel for no reason (1955) James Dean Stars bisexual Hottie, so you can’t really order more. The original scenario was his personality kissing Plato, who was one of the first gay teenagers on the screen, but the Hays code quickly crushed it from occurrence. However, this film is excited, trained, romantic, and all actors are very fun to look at.
2.
Everything about Eve (1950) She is a brilliant drama and a toxic drama for an actress aging that befriends a fan that ultimately tries to rape. This film shares the record for most Oscar nominations ever, with 14, and distinguishes for a short period Marilyn Monroe In one of its first roles at all. There are a lot of strange tones and characters, all of which are very delicious. Also, I personally think that this is the best movie that has been produced ever, so I begs you mainly to watch it.
3.
Killing (1961) It was made at the end of the Hays icon and a kind of the limits of what is permitted. You will see why a great development is detected in this horror, so I will not spoil anything for you now. Just know that this film was so frightening that it literally included a “45 -second fear break” that appeared on the screen before its climax, which told the viewers that they could request a full recovery from the movie theater if they were very afraid to finish watching.
4.
Tea and sympathy (1956) The teenager of the preparatory school “sensitive” is subject to intimidation by students and other teachers. He finds consolation in an older woman, played by Deborah Kiir, and the whole thing is very beautiful to look at it.
5.

6.
pregnancy (1948) is Alfred Hitchcock Air Conditioning to play that was also inspired by the trial of Leopold and Louba. This focuses on two young (strange) murderers who host a dinner after hiding the body in their apartment. The film was filmed to look like it was filmed in one, which increases suspense and helps to preserve the characters (and viewers) on the edge of the abyss.
7.
The edge of the city (1957) is a severe drama about friendship between John Casavits and Sydney Better’s characters. It is harsh and difficult and has a text from the sub -text. Ruby Dee is also in this movie, and it is especially great.
8.
Children’s watch (1961) Audrey Hepburn and Shirley McLean Stars as a woman who broke an internal school for girls in the 1930s in New England. One of the students is rioters who start rumors that they are in a lesbian relationship, and all hell collapses. The film relies on the famous Lillian Hilman play of the same name, which is a must.
9.

11.
Suddenly, last summer (1959) Astrate around a rich widow who tries to get her sister’s daughter to cover up the truth about her strange son (and now the deceased). This is the one there, but Catherine Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor got the best Oscar nominations for their roles, so there is that.
12.

Throughout the movie, her obsession with Rebecca becomes more prevalent, although it should have been implicit through the Hays icon, it should be implicit instead of mentioning it completely.
