2024-25 NBA MVP odds: SGA becomes heavier favorite

the NBA The season is maturing, which means it’s time to dive into the regular season MVP market.

As the winner of the NBA’s most popular award in three of the past four seasons, Nikola Jokic We will be looking to make history by winning four out of five.

Celtics legend Bill Russell won four of five from 1960-61 to 1964-65, and LeBron James did the same between 2008-09 and 2012-13.

These are the only two names to have achieved this feat in the history of the league.

Jokic opened the season at +400 to win the award, and currently ranks fourth in the league in points, rebounds and assists.

Let’s take a look at the NBA MVP odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of January 20th.

2024-25 NBA MVP odds:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: -320 (bet $10 to win a total of $13.13)
Nikola Jokic: +250 (bet $10 to win $35 total)
Giannis Antetokounmpo: +3500 (bet $10 to win a total of $360)
Jayson Tatum: +4500 (bet $10 to win a total of $460)

Is the NBA MVP race really a two-man race?

As of January 20, Jokic is averaging 30.1 points (3rd), 13.2 rebounds (3rd), and 9.9 assists (2nd), while shooting 56.1% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc.

However, despite those gaudy numbers, he is not a favorite. Gilgeous-Alexander is now in the driver’s seat.

As of January 20, the SGA Thunder are 35-7 on the year (second best record in the NBA), winning 15 of their last 17 games.

Gilgeous-Alexander ranks first in the league in points per game (31.5) and second in steals (2.1).
