Nothing was separated last year, George Russell and Max Versaben, in qualifying for the Canadian Canadian Award, as the two drivers published identical times in the third quarter at the front of the field. The two drivers were not separated after a year, as the husband will start again with Russell in P1, where his time was in Q3 just 0.060 seconds from his Red Bull driver. However, after the session, the Mercedes driver admitted that he might have an advantage like the duo, who has clashed in recent weeks, to the 1st round on Sunday.

Verstapn has entered this race week with 11 penalty points for his license in FIA, and he put it shy of a one -race ban. Drivers who get 12 penalty points are suspended in a evaluation year for a race, and with the oldest penalty points in Verstapen who did not come out of his super license at the end of the month, the Red Bull driver must move in both Prix Grand Prix and PRIX without an accident to avoid the ban.
When asked about the start of the race after the qualifiers, Russell joked that the Verstapen penalty may give him an advantage.
