US gynecologist charged with sexual abuse and performing unnecessary procedures | Tennessee
A gynecologist accused of sexual assault on four women MemphisTennessee, and reuse unhealthy medical devices in unnecessary procedures on Friday.
Sanjev Kumar, 44, was accused of sexual assault, medical fraud and incorrect reuse of unhealthy medical devices after the temptation of four women to travel via state lines to his clinic, where he subjected them to sexual assault under the guise of medical procedures.
Kumar’s arrest adds to a group of cases in the United States, which includes at least accused medical doctors of violating patients in their most vulnerable moments.
Between 2019 and 2024, it was claimed that Kumar conducted unnecessary gynecological procedures using medical devices kept in unhealthy conditions and incorrectly reused, with some specific to individual use or the need for sterilization.
According to the authorities of the indictment against him, the 44 -year -old kumar did not reach patients for this practice before entering the devices during the procedures. Kumar, who worked on the Poplar Avenue clinic, described the medical insurance programs and the Federal Medical Care for the Endoscopy Services as if the treatments were medically necessary – and as if he had used new or properly sterile equipment.
The endoscopy is a procedure used to examine the inner part of the uterus, which includes the introduction of a thin tube through the vagina and the cervix in the uterus, according to Medicine Jones Hopkins.
