How a Polish Harlem Globetrotter literally trotted the globe to become a megastar

(Editor’s note: Throughout the week, Athlete I highlight Harlem Globreter And their contributions to basketball, vision of entertainment and comprehensive commitment to good faith.)
All I want is a picture.
When Powell Kido attended his first game in Harlem Globetrot in Poland in 2019, the ticket was a gift for his twenty -first birthday, all he wanted was a picture before Torron Arena Crakau left with any of the players who want to lend their time. He had a Magic Pass ticket, allowing the fans to interview a Globetrotters 90 minutes before Tipoff, and his girlfriend is ready for her phone for a picture.
Kidoń practiced tricks with his basketball for years after the discovery of Globetrotters on the Internet. He watched international players, travelers and basketball icons on the world stage. But he also knew his collection of his own skills. If he was able to get that picture with a player, his birthday would be complete.
Kidoń left the square with much more than a picture. He left with respect for some of the best ball owners on this planet. He left with a reputation.
Kidoń got Globetrotter Joe “Jumpin” Ballaard during the Magic Pass PREGAME game. He wanted to transfer a spinning ball from Bald to him, which is the step that many Globetrotters is making for the fans, but as soon as Kidoń got the ball, his chance to show that he was not an ordinary fans – or an ordinary person with basketball basketball. .
“Like, I can stand on the one hand and do something with my other hand with the ball,” said Kidoy, a basketball champion in the world former world.
Kidoń’s girlfriend caught this moment on the video, which ultimately became viral. One clip led the Globetrotters decision to change the life of Kidoń – as well as paving the way for history.
Kidoń, who was once just a fan of Globetrotters, is the first player in the history of the privilege from Poland. He learned to play basketball alone during his stay in the small village of Zubrzyca Dolna, home to less than 2000 people and is located at the southern end of Poland minutes from Slovakia. Kidoń won the “Dazzle” title on Globetrotters.
It is completely changed for Kidoń, who once worked in Poland in a garden of entertainment that performs basketball tricks before its discovery.

In some respects, Kidoń itself is a self -made product. He fell in love with basketball for the first time in 2013 after watching YouTube’s most prominent features in Globetrotters. Before Kidoń wore red, white and blue, he never played in an organized basketball team, learned under a coach or even playing a suitable game of five over five.
“Thanks to this, the most difficult factor we have reached there,” said Lou Dunbar, the director of players ’employees at Globetrotters and a team member and executive manager for more than four decades. “Every day, he works to play it, because it is known as it is in a state of different stratose.”
He was the height of his trial in the basketball that arose is able to rotate the ball on his finger. Then he started practicing easy trick clips and free processing movements.
The movements have become positive reactions. Then the feelings became a complete show.
One of the first true love of CEDO ń was the recovery. Through this, he drafted hot as one of the most unique tools – which says something that thinks about the team’s history of integrating basketball with entertainment.
“When I started creating my own tricks, I noticed that I could do everything with basketball,” Kidoy said. “I can stand and do some tricks, but I can also move my body, such as, the wheel, stand on my head, or control basketball between my legs. So, I just started exploring, not even just basketball, but dance, hip hop, fracture.
I was looking for some of the elements that I can combine with basketball. This is how it started, mainly. I have begun to do superior because there are elements of the collapse that can communicate with basketball. “
For Kidoń, joining Globetrotters means more than adapting to a new passion. He was adapting to a new team, a new language, a new and demographic culture for people. Kidoń is the first person of his family to fly to the United States, not to mention learning to build a life away from home.
He still remembers his first day with Globetrotters, which included the duties of the media with newspapers, television networks and radio stations excited to meet him. This waves again in Poland because Globetrotters does not only allow anyone to try it in their list. Once he was an official member, Kidoń moved from the title of “child” to his current title.
And “fascination” was dazzling.
“If you can hear someone wearing the ball, I learned that it was dazzling,” Dunbar said. “He works there every day, and he competes with these men, and plays individually every day. He is trying to reach their level.”

In combining all amendments to one transition, it changes life, what is the most key to moving from a free artist to a full -time basketball player? For the Polish star, the preparation is essential.
“I am trying to train all the time because I know I have a lot of work to do,” he said. “I am not good in basketball like other players yet. Basically, I wake up, eat breakfast, and almost every day, start my day to extend and some movements. Then, usually, we must travel, like three hours or four hours to the next city.
“Before every game, I try to be ready. I play my tricks, like, my old tricks to keep my shape. Also, I will take some shots to be the best shooter. We play some games on two on three games, three games on three games. I focus on improving My skills in basketball, IQ basketball.
Many of Globetrotters is entertainment, but it requires knowing the basics of the team’s basketball to work. At the time of his amendment with the team, Kidoń grew as a player and a wonderful player, and he found himself able to become a Wow worker. Once a tense shy child from speaking English, sharpening Kidoń using language using Duolingo language lessons and listening to rap music while traveling to new cities. Since joining the team, he photographed the list of the five best American cities: New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas.
Kidoń admitted that he was not a great fan of traveling before Globetrotter became, but that began to change as soon as he began to wander around the United States, Africa and Asia. Adaptation to American life has provided him with a stable basketball experience, new foods and music that helped him comfortably grow in a new culture.
Kidoń is a great fan of the American Professional League star Steve Curry. He is also a great fan of hop hop and Super Bowl Display the second half Kendrick Lamar. Kitchen choices differ from meat slices to chicken wings to hamburger.
And his free skills are welcome. They are always more enjoyable when he has someone to practice with him.
Globetrotter has grown on Kidoń. He took the franchise task of returning the favor to society to Poland. He is now carrying basketball camps and appears in his homeland for free.
For everything that Kidoń enjoyed about being Globetrotter, still maintains a modest basketball list, which includes his desire to meet the curry. Watching the American Professional League champion is remembered four times in 2016 when Carrie became the first MVP unanimous in the history of the league. Kidoń described that version of Curry as “unpopular”, which represents a great praise of such a well -staple hut that shines in the achievement of what some may consider apparently impossible.

But these life lessons are why Kidoń got more than one image when he attended his first Globetrotters. He has moved from life in a small village and a theme park to the squares sold to one of the most famous basketball privileges in the world.
“(I want) to show children that it is important to have goals in your life,” said Kido. “It is important to find something you like to do and to do it only because everyone has a talent. It is important to find some hobbies, some feelings, and to do something, because you never know to what extent you can go with your passion.
“I arrived at the Harlem Globetrotters team, and I lived in a small village of less than 2000 people. If you did this and it was possible for me, why isn’t that possible for you too?”
