NOAA is located under the US Department of Commerce and is charged with daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings and climate control. It is also one of the parents of the national weather service.
The agency said that its national environmental information centers will not update the weather database database of a billion dollars after 2024, and that its information-which dates back to 1980-will be archived.
For decades, hundreds of major events have tracked the country, including destructive hurricanes, cold storms, drought and freezing that reached a total trillion dollars.
