together This is not the first time that Alison Berri has played the role of the real husband, Dave Franco, but the time of their cooperation in the new movie, Michael Shanks, may be more enjoyable to work together. Berri joined the Vulture Spot at Park City to talk about this type of movie (there is no burning here), which explores mutual dependence between the spouses for a long time after moving to the countryside to test their relationship and bodies.
Congratulations for the movie. How did the matter come between you and Dave?
Thank you! Dave held a meeting with Michael about another text, as is the case with most Zooms that occur in our home, I was in the background to eat yogurt and listen to them, and they started talking about their love for horror and movies. Shanks praised Dave RentAnd, which was the first appearance of Dave in directing and said: “I have a kind of films that I wrote.” He suggested sending the scenario to Dave to read it. Once Dave read it, I love her. Send him with a short movie entitled Restart What Shanks wrote, directed and made all the special influences on it. Dave used to say: “I think we should participate in this together and we produce and join it and get its financing and make it.” I said, “Let’s do that, my dear.”
Are you asking you and Dave to work a lot?
This is usually ROM Coms, and it is okay, but we are very interested in what we behave together. If we get offers for something that we do not play as a duo, will that be strange or dispersed? We also do not want to be annoying about it. We realize that appearing together may be annoying. But this seemed to be very logical.
The film revolves around a couple who depend on each other and they were together for more than a decade. We are a couple less dependent on each other, and we were together for more than a decade, and we felt that this provided a wonderful descriptive quality that would feed the story of this movie. This was useful behind the scenes, because this film requires a lot of intimate bodily relationship. I do not mean sexual. I mean, I do. But I do not do that either.
Shanks has a background in visual effects. How did this affect his direction and the way the film was formed?
There are a lot of major scenes in this movie, so many of our early conversations with Shanks were about the effects. He himself has completed more than 100 snapshots of visual effects while editing this movie. It is unusual and part of the reason we trust it. This film takes a great swing. There are strange things in it, man, strange things for me and Dave doing them. So there were a lot of conversations between us, “If I would put my body in this strange situation, will you do something that will make it look great later?” Then we were confident that Shanks would do that.
I worked with many directors and writers for the first time. What do they bring to your operation?
This is fun. I think it is changing throughout the person’s career because I was early when I was working with filmmakers for the first time, I was working for the first time as well. It’s like We are all in this together. We are all bright eyes and enthusiasts. Now I think there is something I and Dave I have in this project as experienced producers. I don’t want to say that we took Shanks under our wing because he was very confident. He knew exactly what he wanted to do. I just love new ideas. It is interesting to work with filmmakers for the first time, because it is usually the first movie that people make, thinking about it for years and years. It is a great idea that they raised their sleeve, and they are very excited and enthusiastic, and this is somewhat fraught with risks. It is fun to do things that scare you.
It’s your seventh Sandans. What has changed in your coming to this festival over the years?
In the first twice I came to this festival, I brought two best friends and beaten. I was talking to Dave about this topic last night and he said: “Is it usually staying near the main street when you come to the festival?” I said, “My dear, I have no idea about my place of residence.” All I remember is that I was walking through snow and being like, We cannot get a taxi. In one year, we slept on the sofa Ludwig Gyrnson, and I remember that I lost consciousness with the Toastos with lemon flavor.
It was extended because I was here to watch the films that I starred, like Sleeping with other people. I also went out to watch movies like Summer kingsWhere I am in two scenes and say: “Let’s celebrate!” The first movie I was here was Michael Mohan’s movie Keep history With Lizy Kaplan, Martin Star, Jeffrey Arnd and a group of other people. We all resided in a house, again, with the best of my friends, three people in a stacked bed. That was my early experience with the festival, when I was young and excited about the movie, I was going to every hall, getting free jackets, and sleeping on the sofas.
It has changed. The last time I was here was for Horse girlFive years ago. It was the first movie I wrote – I participated in writing with Jeff Pyna – and it was the first movie that I was also producing. The film was already shown on Netflix, so we were not trying to sell it, but it looked like a different part of my career. This seems the same, as we were working on this film for two years as producers, starting work on it, then we photograph it, and then, so it seems a little more mature and professional than annoying days when I was the first to come here.
I was thinking again Sleeping with other peopleAnd one of my favorite films from your films, and I was wondering whether there was a different content of how we talked about mutual dependence after the Corona virus now after we were all in homes a lot.
I did not think about it this way. Perhaps this is how deep my personal dependence on this movie. This is very funny. I didn’t think about that Sleeping with other people In the depth for a long time, but certainly, this was a character trying to escape mutual dependence with this person who does not want to participate in a relationship with it. in togetherYou pick up two characters on different aspects of this interest. Dave’s character is more afraid of the intimate relationship. These characters were together for more than a decade, but they are unmarried. He is afraid to take the next step. This does not mean that people should marry, but even moving to the country is great in terms of consolidating the relationship. My personality is afraid to get out of the relationship. It is the real reliability in their unity. The film as a whole is explored, while also looks at the positive aspects of the intimate relationship.
When couples are for a long time, especially during the Corona virus, you breathe the same air, and eat the same food. Dave and I share the clothes. You have the same friends, so it is easy to lose your sense of yourself and uniqueness in light of it. This film takes this to its maximum end.
Since this film revolves around relationships and mutual dependence, what is the best tip of relationships you got or can provide?
Oh my God, I mean that he really continues, right? Expediting forgiveness. The worst thing is to build discontent and not talk about it, then it explodes about something random like the presence of socks in the wrong stairs after six months and says: “Well, what I really don’t like is the way you deal.” I spoke with me in front of your mother in the last Christmas.
Frankly, it was a journey for me with Dave, who is the best and easiest person. I belong to an aggressive negative family. So I am wonderful to say: “I’m fine, everything is fine.” It is good to say: “Well, I know you are not so because you make a high and strange voice.” During the 13 years we spent together, I reduced the time about two weeks between saying “I am fine” and saying “This is what happened” to 20 minutes, which I think is very good.
This is really good. Congratulations!
It is a trip. It is a life journey.
What is the most fun project you have worked with Dave?
Oh my God, this is the movie and this is a crazy thing to say because when we shot Someone you knew We wrote this movie together. He brought it out, and she starred in it, and I thought this was the most enjoyable that we could get, because it was like a superpower mixed with minds, because we wrote it together and it was very easy, our reduction. On a group.
But the fun thing is to take it and translate it into work in this movie. This was a 21 -day photo session. When you see the movie, it will be an ambitious 21 days. We were rapidly running towards our goals to get another snapshot, otherwise it would have been like, You have one snapshot, go. So it was very fun to do this with my partner, a spiritual twin, the person I have this reduction with. He has provided us with a lot of time at the location of the filming, and it was very fun seeing something different for me as well. I mean, we lose our minds in this movie.
