‘Start exercising!’: secrets of Thailand’s 105-year-old athletics champion | Thailand

andOr a 105 -year -old Thai athlete, Swang Janbram, starts today at 5:30 am. It eats breakfast from boiled eggs, some protein, vegetables and fruits, and by 6 am or 7 am, he goes out on the beach or local stadium near his home in Rayung County, and trains with his 73 -year -old daughter Seriban.
It will walk between 1 km and 2 km before doing a fast distance of 100 meters, once or twice. Then, one of his other sports is practiced: spear, disk or lead.
Swang’s training system has proven its effectiveness – only last week, winning four golds in the World Master Games in Taiwan. The media reports, in his own association, commented-as the oldest competitor in games and the only person in his age group, was certain of winning the disk that numbered more than 100 men, spears, shot and 100 meters, which he completed in 38.55 seconds.
What is the secret of his longevity and success? “Doing regular exercise, healthy food, staying in a good mood, always calm, breathing clean air and keeping pace with good hygiene,” he says. “If you are sick, I go to see a doctor.”
Swang has always loved sports, and watch it on TV or in local competitions. “I love watching boxing, and my favorite is Pone Kingpetch”, referring to the first world champion in Thailand, who retired in the 1960s, “he says.
It was not even Sengang 97 that he began to compete. He was inspired by Seriban, a sporting with the Thai veteran Athletics An association, which will bring her father to watch her competition in events. “He began to like the atmosphere because he could make new friendships and see new people,” Seriban says.
Initially, the Swang family was concerned that the travel required for the competitions could be very tired. But Seriban says 21 games and 78 medals later, things have gone well.
Swang says he laughs, but there are days when he feels a little lethargy. “If you notice that it looks somewhat tired, we are just walking, or not walking, or any other form of practice,” says Serpan. Exit out, and activity, has benefits that go beyond physical fitness. “I can see that it seems refreshed when he sees other people. He is only two of us at home, and it is better to continue going out,” she added.
Swang loves to eat vegetables and Nam Brick Bao – Hot dipped sauce made of pepper, chores, garlic, dried shrimp and fish sauce – as well as Gang LiangVegetable soup, and Jing SomCarrip of sour and sour fish with rice. It rarely eats pork, and mostly sticks to vegetables and fish.
Seripan explains that they are eating in good health and that the air quality is good near the beach where they exercise. He adds that her father maintains a positive position. “If you get sick or need to take the medicine, it will never be stubborn.”
It believes that the main barrier that prevents the elderly in Thailand from exercising is a lack of support. “They do not want to do this alone, especially for the elderly, they need help and help,” she says. Thailand is a community of aging, with a population of 20 % of the population over 60 years.
“The elderly can be especially at home – their children or relatives at work, so they stay at home throughout the day,” she says. Exercise can “make them feel vibrant again.”
She hopes to inspire her father’s other success. “When I look at the comments on social media, I see a lot of positive responses. People say” the grandfather is very cool “and they want to be very.” “I am very happy, I am very proud of my father – he remains strong and has discipline to keep your fitness. I know he does not want to be a burden on our family,” says Serpan, who also won gold and silver medals in Taiwan.
Sawang and Siripan are planning to spend a few days after their success, but they will be attached to training again next week. They are already preparing to qualify for the ASIA MASTERS ATHLETICS 23 championship, which will be held in India in November.
“I want everyone to start exercising so that they are strong and do not get sick,” said Swang. His advice to others who want to get fit? “If you go out to exercise with friends, you will get a chance to learn more – and it is fun.”
