Astronomers create a dazzling, elaborate map of nearby galaxy in thousands of colors

Cape Canaveral, Florida (AP) – Astronomers have unveiled a nearby place Glory to the galaxy With all its glossy glory, it shines in thousands of colors.

The dazzling panoramic shot that was released on Wednesday from the sculptor Galaxy by Telescope in Chile Very detailed that it already works as a map full of stars.

Scientists used the European Southern Observatory Very large telescope To monitor the galaxy for about 50 hours, collect more than 100 exposure to creating the image. The image extends 65,000 light years, almost the entire galaxy. Light year is 5.8 trillion miles.

The sculptor – officially called NGC 253 – a star galaxy, is a heavy one with excellent work. It is located 11 million light -years away in the sculptor from the Southern Ball Conscience, and easy to watch with a perspective or small telescopes.

“The sculptor Galaxy is in a sweet place,” said Enrico Chongu of the Observatory, who led the research in a statement. “It is close enough that we can solve its internal structure and study the building blocks with incredible details, but at the same time, it is large enough so that we can still see it as a complete system.”

The higher the shades of colors of stars, gas and dust in a galaxy, the more evidence of its time, composition and movement, according to scientists. Another snapshot of the sculptor contains thousands of colors – a glowing montage of purple, pink and yellow – compared to a handful of traditional images.

The team has already discovered 500 planetary demolitions, a passion for gas and dust from the stars that die and that can serve as signs of cosmic inclination. Their research was accepted in the journal of astronomy and astronomical physics.
