Australian consumer watchdog takes gas company to court alleging it misled consumers over renewables claim | Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)

The monitoring of the competition in Australia launched the federal court measures against Australian mystification Networks, the company claimed that the consumers were misled through its “Love Gas” campaign.

A Australian gas spokesman said they were disappointed by the ACCC decision to start procedures and will defend the claims.

The spokesman said: “We are always striving to provide clear and accurate contacts about the role and benefits of natural gas today and renewed gas in the future.”

ACC said it had started investigation after complaints from consumers and the Australian Conservation Corporation (ACF).

ACF CEO, Kelly Oshanasi, welcomed the ACCC court.

She said: “The gas is a contaminated fossil fuel, when dug and burned, it releases billions of tons of emissions, which leads to the phenomenon of global warming and dangerous events that are washed with climate such as floods, fires and dryness.”
