Carrie Underwood Took One of Today’s Few Glitches and Used It to SHINE – Twitchy

There were some amazing moments at Donald Trump’s inauguration today, and some of the best ones had nothing to do with politics at all.

We saw First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Osha Vance absolutely radiating elegance and sophistication in their outfits for the day, not to mention their love for their spouses. Then there was Vance’s adorable daughter, Mirabellewho absolutely stole the show as she sat in her mother’s arms and watched her father take the oath of office.

Overall, the party went off almost without a hitch. And even one moment of “technical difficulty” quickly became one of the most happy accidents we’ve ever heard.

Country star Carrie Underwood has been tapped to sing at the inauguration (And of course the broken left tried to shame her about it), but when it came time for her rendition of “America The Beautiful,” there was a problem with the PA system that provides her with the song’s background music.

Fortunately, her microphone kept working, and after an uncomfortable moment or two, Underwood simply said, “I’ll just sing it,” meaning she would perform the song. A cappella.

What followed was perfect and amazing. Watch and listen:

“I’ll just sing it”? You bet she did. America the Beautiful indeed.

The unique acoustics of the Capitol Rotunda added to the performance, making her already powerful voice resonate even more magnificently throughout the room.

We especially love how she encouraged everyone to sing along. “You know the words.”

(Maybe she was assuming too much of Joe Biden there, but he mumbled and at least gave it a try.)

It was definitely better this way. This is a credit to Underwood and her talent.

She probably could have done it even without the mic, but that would have made it difficult for everyone watching TV to hear, so we’re glad the mic works.

It’s not an easy song to sing well. Maybe it’s not as difficult as “The Star-Spangled Banner,” but it’s not far behind.

We’ll refrain from digging too far into the left here, but we have to wonder how many celebrity musicians who showed up for Kamala Harris’ campaign could have made that happen.

Not much, we don’t think.

Politically, the day will be remembered for Trump’s fiery rhetoric, which he titled “America’s Gilded Age.” But outside of politics, we have a feeling Underwood’s performance will be remembered for a long time.

You were not alone there. Looking side-by-side at the sold-out Capital One Arena, where Trump supporters were watching the inauguration on big screens, everyone there was singing along loudly, too.

As was the case with many people in the house (who may or may not have included this writer).

Oh, it’s getting a little ‘dusty’. Must be allergies or something.

Very well said. And immediately.

There were so many great moments at the inauguration, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But Underwood’s singing was definitely among them.

It gave us all the good chills and we have no problem saying that.

If Carrie Underwood took a moment of adversity and turned it into an absolute rock star performance of one of our country’s most iconic songs and didn’t scream, “America is back!”, we don’t know what she would do.

Congratulations to her for the wonderful presentation. And congratulations to Donald Trump and J.D. Vance for a wonderful inauguration.
