Canon’s new PowerShot V1 puts video first

Canon announced a new compact camera and a point called PowerShot v1 Designed to attract more creative video content.

V1 connects a wide corner lens with a new sensor from the company, which is the first Powershot model to introduce “Moods” that specializes in appearance and videos, as well as a camera. It also has a built -in cooling fan so that it can be recorded at 4K/60p for more than two hours without high temperature.

Powershot V1 was announced before the CP+ photography in Yokohama, Japan next week. Canon revealed details of most V1 functions, but they are limited details about availability. Canon Japan Powershot V1 is listed at 148,500 yen, or about $ 990. It will be launched in Japan, Korea, Honk Kong, China and Taiwan in late April 2025, but wider availability, including the United States. More details may be announced next week.

The new 1.4 V1 sensor is similar to a third of Micro Four sensor, but it is characterized by a width rate to a height of 3: 2 which is slightly wider and shorter. The camera can capture fixed photos 22.3 MP at a speed of 15 frames per second with its mechanical shutter, or up to 30 frames per second with an electronic image. When you take a 10 -bit video on 4K/30p, the fully view of the V1 sensor is used, but when it is strengthened to 60 pixels, a 1.4X sensor is used to reduce processing needs and heat generation.

The new sensor is paired with a wide corner enlargement lens at a wide angle of 16-50 mm Back from EOS R6 Mark II. This gives automatic features of the V1 image that includes tracking the topic, installing images that help maintain the position of this topic in the frame, and automatic discovery of people, cars, animals and even students.

V1 does not have the electronic camera lens, so the frame and mobility in the list are completely handled with a three -inch LCD touch screen. But it can be connected to a smartphone using a Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or USB-C connection with the Canon Connect app, and it can be used as a USB sleeve on a computer without the need for any transformers.

There is no built -in flash, but Canon includes hot multi -functional shoes to add third -party solutions. Powershot V1 also includes a three -stop ND filter, headphones, microphone, HDMI, and one SD card slot.
