Death of ex-Yankee Brett Gardner’s son still under investigation

More than two months after the death of Miller Gardner, the 14 -year -old son New York Yanxiz Football player Brett Gardner, the Costa Rica authorities, says the case is still under investigation and that the prosecutors are trying to determine whether the cause of death will be a murder.
Gardner died on March 21 in a resort in Costa Rica, where he was staying with his family. In late March, a representative from the Costa Rica Judicial Department (OIJ) confirmed to ESPN with a text message stating that investigators believe the death was subject to the result of wrong play. On April 2, the authorities said that his death was caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Since then, the case has been open, according to a spokeswoman for the Costa Rica Prosecutor’s Office dealing with the case. Sharon Hernandez Koto, a press officer from the Costa Rica Prosecutor’s Office, on behalf of the Cuibbus and Parita branch, told Espn that the authorities seek to “determine the cause of death was a murder or not, and if so, the matter was to prove responsibility.”
When asked whether the investigation of the killing is a record, or whether there is doubt that there is an error in the play, the spokeswoman said: “The purpose of the investigation is specifically to determine whether we are dealing with a possible murder. For this reason, at this time it is not possible to confirm or exclude the crime.”
She said that every case is dealt with individually. The Public Prosecutor’s Office told ESPN that there is no timetable for the completion of the investigation. Hernandez Koto repeated that the case is under investigation and added: “The goal is to determine whether it is a natural or equal death.”
In response to many additional questions, Hernandez Koto replied: “The Office of the Prosecutor Kibus and Brarya indicated that there is no more details to be provided that exceeds that introduction already, because the issue is under investigation, a special stage for third parties. We are able to understand you.”
The ESPN Prosecutor’s Office directed a 33 -page guide on Costa Rica’s criminal procedure, which explains the public prosecutor’s office. The first phase, which includes the collection and analysis of evidence, or inspection orders, requests to dissect bodies and detention requests before the trial, concludes with the official charges of the public prosecutor, a temporary dismissal request or a request to close the case. The second stage can include a decision to submit official fees. The next step will be a experimental stage, followed by any possible calls. It was not clear any stage of the Gardner case in this process.
Gardner’s family refused to comment.
Brett Gardner and his wife, Jessica, announced the death of their son on March 23 in a statement issued by Yanxiz. According to the statement, Miller Gardner had fell ill with many other family members during their vacation.
In a phone call with ESPN two days later, an OIJ spokesman said that Miller Gardner was with family members who told the investigators that they “went to eat in a restaurant and that food had been ill.” In that interview, the official spokesman said that Oij considered suffocation before being excluded.
Then he described the director of Oij Randall Zuniga at a press conference on March 28 how the “room that the family was” was tested a week after Miller Gardner’s death was discovered and “high carbon monoxide emissions” were discovered.
A representative from OIJ ESPN told a public prosecutor’s office in Kwibus, a town near the Arenas del Mar BeachFront & Rainforest resort, where the teenager’s body was found in his room.
Miller Gardner played football in secondary schools in South Carolina and wore No. 11, which his father wore during 14 MLB seasons, all with Yanxiz. Brett Gardner, captain of the famous team, was a member of the tournament team in New York 2009 and retired in 2021.
