F1 Miami Grand Prix: Fernando Alonso talks Aston Martin’s present, and future, Thursday in Miami

Miami, Florida – The 2023 Formula 1 season started with a sudden team fighting at the front of the network.

Aston Martin.

With veteran driver Fernando Alonso joining the team to drive alongside Lance Stroll, the team came out of the gates. Both drivers at the points in the Bahrain Grand Season-Plugge race ended while recovering from a painful wrist-and with Alonso’s registration in six first eight races, Aston Martin seemed to be the largest story of the season.

However, the team faded in the range, and settled in fifth place in the Benatin Championship.

Fifth place this year appears to be away.

The team arrived in Miami in seventh place in the standings with ten points, and put ten points behind Haas in sixth place. While there is hope in the future, the present is a fairly difficult challenge.

“Yes, I mean, we are not competitors as we want to be,” Fernando Alonso told the media, including SB nationThursday in Miami. “There are some factors that made the car a little difficult at the present time in terms of pace

Midfield. They raised the level and that they are closer to the first four places, and we did not take this step.

“So yes, it is still a long championship, so we need to respond.”

There was also hope there is hope, with the arrival of legendary designer Adrian Newy, who joined the team in March. Alonso has recently spent a time with Newey at the new team facility in Silverstone, but any possible reforms may be in the future.

“I think this year is just a continuation of some of the problems we found in the last two seasons, and we were unable to overcome some of the obstacles we found,” Alonso continued. “I was in the factory and had lunch with Adrian, a few conversations, but you don’t know much this year.

“It was a general talk about the team in general and how he felt in these two weeks in Aston and some of the changes that may occur in the team for a better future under his supervision and experience.

“Yes, it is always exciting, as you know, talk to him and finally work with him.”

However, with Newey joining this season, new regulations entered next year, Alonso believes that the focus of the legendary engineer will need to be in the next generation of cars.

“Car design as it is, as you know, to what extent needs the amount of time it needs to be dedicated, maybe it is preferable to join the team one year ago and begins in it [the 2026 car]”Follow Alonso.” Even [the] “26 projects I am sure he thinks he is late, so I completely understand that he needs to focus only on a car next year.

“And this year he did not touch the car. He did not design the car, so I don’t think it is up to him to fix the car.”

If Aston Martin can steal some points this weekend, as the Miami Grand Prix team was achieved as one of the F1 Sprint Race, which could create more opportunities for the team, Alonso made my best to expectations.

“The closest example is China, where we have a little better rehabilitation than expected on Friday, and we went back to our normal site by Saturday. I think that if we choose another strategy or anything we can record some points that I think are more difficult,” Alonso started. “So this might happen, but I think Miami was not a good path for us.

“Even in 2023 with the platform here [Alonso finished third in Miami that season during the team’s tremendous start] We just alive in Quali. All free practices that we were somewhat competitive with our standards in 2023 at the beginning of the year and year as well. Even if we started the season strong, Miami was difficult.

“Yes, let’s see if we change things this year, but it may be a difficult weekend for sure.”

Even with those enhanced expectations, Alonso seemed optimistic about what was just around the corner.

“we [headed] In the right direction, but as usual in Formula One, nothing changes from day to day.

“Everything needs time.”
