Felipe Esparza talks about new Netflix special ‘Raging Fool’

Before Felipe Esparza became a star traveling all over the world in his spare time, it was a struggle to wander in La Comic without a car. For years, all vehicles have reached public transport, buses and trains jumped to local clubs so that they can withstand a set of wheels.
Everything changed after the “last comic position” of NBC won in 2010. He started a tour of the country, then the world, and never looked back. Since his big break, Esparza also ventured in acting, with roles in films such as “You People”, “Daddy Daughter Trip” and “Guest House”. It has also appeared on TV programs including “Gentrefive” and “The Eric Andre Show”.
His similarities similar to the personal narration turn in dark and forbidden subjects, such as domestic violence, sexual life of couples, drug, alcohol and other functional imbalances that arose in a Mexican family. Esparza also hosts “What Up IT Fool?” Which has been one of the best comedy podcasts over the past ten years.
Esparza recently talked with The Times about the Fifth Fifth Comedy, “Raging Fool”, which was shown on Tuesday on Netflix.
Before he was able to buy his private car, Esparza relied on public transport for years to reach vehicles throughout the city.

Tell us about your new, “Raging Fool”, and how it differs from the last Netflix in 2020.
Jokes are different, but I am still dealing with the same topics. Family issues, marriage, drugs, sex, s – so. But when I photographed the latest “bad decisions”, which were filmed in two days – I showed one in English and the next night in Spanish – the timing was unfortunate. I went out, and I would only take a tour, then after two days, Covid’s pandemic erupted. We had locks and everything, so this type was absorbed, but it appeared online and got a good response from people. However, with the new “Raging”, I feel I am getting a tour of this article now, it’s a new start.
You are taking a tour in the United States now, as part of my entertainment tour, but last year I was international. How was it like wandering outside the country as a stand? Did you find that there are any differences in the masses?
Wandering anywhere is just fun. I love making offers. But last year, it was part of my tour of England, Dublin, Amsterdam, Sidni and Melbourne, Australia. The great thing is that I think my fans will change when I leave the country and play different places, but it is funny how it does not. Just to show you that there are Mexicans, Latinians and Latinists worldwide, every city is largely major at this stage. For example, two example: There are a large number of population and the Salvadorians in Alberta, Canada, as well as in Alexandria, Virginia, in the states. So, yes, there are people who speak Spanish and appreciate the humor I do, and the offers are always enjoyable and we have a fun time.

You have made some jokes in another distinctive than being a vegetarian, but are you really vegetarian?
Yes, I am really vegetarian. I have been a vegetarian since 2011. What happened is that I was on the Attints system, but I do it completely. I only eaten meat and cheese. Tons of Carne Asada, Carnitas and Al Pastor, meat slices, burgers and a lot of cheese. But I am wow by not drinking any water. I have some very painful health problems. I had terrible constipation for a week, and after this episode I just decided to give up all the meat and became vegetarian. My wife grew up by her mother. But when I met me, I stopped being vegetarian, because I presented it to Jack in the box, in-n-out, and all types of fast food and other fast food. So it is no longer vegetarian anymore.
But then in 2011, it became vegetarian again when I decided to try it and both have been vegetarian since then. Here in the San Fernando Valley where I live, there are many Mexican restaurants that meet the needs of people. It makes vegetable meat and vegetable cheese. This one spot, El Cocinero in Van Nuys, makes carnitas a homemade vegetarian of homemade vegetarian cheese, all of which are the best Mexican foods but with plant options. Vegetable food for years used to be terrible. You eat a head of lettuce and white rice and a sandwich of pickles. My mom was afraid when I told her that I would be a vegetarian. “Ay Mijo Que Vas is coming?” [What will you eat, my boy?]

Therapeutic comedy for Sparisa: “I am still alive because of the standing comedy, definitely. I am talking about some of the truly dark things in my life in a comedy on the stage.”

Your wife works with you in producing your own and comedy offers, so how can a balance between personal time and work?
I don’t know how to balance it, but it happens organically. Of course, we make it work. It produces my podcast and also my comedy shows, which are hard behind the scenes. We have been together since 2006, so she saw me and knew me before I won “the last comic situation”, and before I was famous. She knows the rhythm of jokes that help me in writing.
Your comedy contains some dark personal stories. Do you find a stand -alone comedy to be curative?
Oh yes, I definitely do. I am still alive because of my standing comedy. I am talking about some of the truly dark things in my life in a comedy on the stage, in the new private things and in the past. They are things that I will not talk about anywhere what was not my treatment. For example, I do this one joke about how to hit my mother by my father when I was younger. It took a long time to do this joke, but I finally did so in front of my mother and laughed and knew that he was fine. It was very popular and therapeutic to her to watch me do this joke, it was very strong. Humor is definitely the savior.

“I think it’s comic, you can fight around anything you want. But you should be ready to take the consequences of your words.”

How do you feel about censorship as a comedy? Do you think the comedians have the freedom of complete expression in joking about any topic?
I think it’s comic, you can make a joke about anything you want. But you should be ready to take the consequences of your words. You cannot forget this part. This is early in my career, for many years, I was asked to do a clean comic offer without vulgar, so I was not dealing, but I did some jokes about racism and religion and said the wrong thing, and some people and cut the microphone. He had a great relationship with the content, not necessarily just cursed. But it is important to know the audience as comic, especially when you are appointed to special occasions or companies. Now, though, if you have hired or when I do offers, people know when to hire me, you will get what you get. If you know my programs, you know that I will make jokes about drugs, sex, marriage, race, religion and more. I will use the vulgar. However, as a standing comic, I evolved from one of the participants to a comic telling stories, which is some really dark things but all this is funny.
Are the current events and policy play in your comedy procedures at all?
Well, yes, but not publicly. I don’t like to be very politician, but I touched on migration and race somewhat softly to make people laugh. For example, in this joke, I mentioned how white people do not work throughout the month, then send money to Scotland or Ireland. Eggs have no relatives of immigrants from Germany or Belgium who appear at their door with blankets that they need to live in. If you push people to laugh at some of these topical jokes, this is a good thing. You have made things funny now, with current events. One thing we have proven in these last elections is that you cannot put Latinists and Latinians in the same category anymore. We are not the same brown people. There are some Mexicans who want others from Mexicans and Central America who have been deported from the country. He is crazy. But in general, I try not to take the angle in which he brought out that all eggs are elements and kill all white people, because this is not really funny, there is no truly joke there. I try to make small jokes on these topics and laugh people.
Aside from your tour, are there any other roles or films on the horizon for you?
Oh yes, I will be on the ABC series “Transforming the Gears” with Tim Allen. It is an episode where I play mechanically. It is very cool, because it disturbed the mastery. The funny thing is that I do not know anything about tools or cars. Sometimes, in Hollywood, it is not the one you know, so whoever smokes herbs at the back of the improvisation.
