Former soccer player Joe Thompson dead at 36 after third cancer diagnosis

Former British soccer Joe Thompson died this week after the cancer was fighting for the third time more than a decade, and his wife announced on social media. It was only 36.

Tomson, who officially retired from this sport in 2019, died in “early morning hours” on Thursday at home and surrounded by his family. The news of his death came a year after it was revealed that he was diagnosed with him Lymphoma.

His third diagnosis of cancer has been since 2013.

“The atmosphere of this effect has caused this effect on many people, and we are all grateful forever with our match with his existence and because he is very strong and staying with us as long as he did against all the difficulties,” wrote Shantil Thompson in Instagram on Friday.

“He was the most incredible husband, his son, brother, friend and father of our beautiful daughters, who will now carry his light and legacy and I will continue to fill them with the love of Joe every day.”

Tomson, former Manchester United Academy player, Make more than 200 games for the local club Rocdale. The club issued a statement after its death.

“We first knew that Joe is a talented footballer, but we will grow soon until we love his infectious love,” as stated in the statement in part. “He faced every battle face to face, inside and outside the stadium. His journey and an indomitable spirit of inspiration for everyone who was influenced by his story was.

“Above all, Joe was a loving husband and an incredible father for Tayla and Athens Ray. Our thoughts with the Joe family and her friends at this sad time incredibly.”

Thomson was first diagnosed with lymphoma in Hodgkin in 2013. He underwent treatment and returned to the stadium in the following season of Bury Football Club. Cancer returned in 2016, but he underwent a successful treatment and returned after only nine months.

“It was a long battle, and he fought with all his strength and did things on his way !! He chose his way and walked in every step with courage and pride that increases closer to God every day while still there for many others,” Chantel Thompson continued.

“Hold his plan for the future to continue this legacy, but it’s now time to rest and watch us from the sky.”

Thompson survived his wife and their young daughters.
