FX Publicity Icon John Solberg to Depart After Nearly 30 Years

John SolburgThe head of communications for a long time from FX and Exec who helped convert what was the nascent cable network into a brand to program the force that explodes with a famous and award -winning chain, decided to step down. Solburg announced in a memo for employees on Wednesday that he would leave FX when his contract expires in January.
Solberg joined FX more than 28 years ago, when the network was often known for repeating the initial fare like “The X-Files”. He was appointed in March 1997 as director of media relations, then he had promotions for VP and SVP deputy and ultimately, EVP of advertising.
There was when the network entered for the first time in excellent text works – and had an effective role in the successful launch of “The Shield”, which led to Emmy’s 2002 victory for the star Michael Chicles. That was the first time that the actor has found statues to perform the basic basis. “Thanks to my previous small network,” Chicles said in the admission letter, but perhaps the most distinctive thing was screaming to “Solberg !!”
Solberg will become a regular name that Emmy viewers will hear in admission letters as the FX series continued to hit a pop culture and a critical measurement over the years. Recently, the tears of “Shogun” have been included in winning almost every award.
Last year was another achievement of the conflict for Solberg, like Fx The title of most victories by a network in the Emmy Awards has been claimed, thanks to this to a large extent to “ChugonAnd “and”Bear“FX finished the night with 36 total victories (with “Shogun” capture 18 and “bear” get 11) – On the occasion of the first time in at least 15 years, the upper director of the night was not Netflix or HBO. And yes, on stage, Solberg was than again.
“Since FX has launched the original programming brand two and a half decades ago, our creative partners and our offers have not had a better lawyer than John Solberg,” said John Landgrev, President of FX. “A lot of how FX is linked to the press in John’s sincerity, his true passion for stories and those who tell her, and his deep respect for the press as a profession. After 21 years of working together, I will miss the daily John’s presence in FX a lot-but he will always be a dear friend.”
Solberg loves FX employees, and perhaps more than that by FX book, producers and stars. Solburg’s beloved wife, Mef, died last year and in her memorial service, there were a number of FX talents in the past and the present there to pay their respect and support for Solberg.
Here is a note that Solberg sent to the company today:
Note from John Solberg
Fx FX dear,
I step down from my position as EVP for advertising when my contract ends in January.
The FX Work in the past 28 years has been a magic experience. During that time, I had four presidents: Ellen Cooper, who rented me, Mark Sonnberg, Peter Legore, whose vision changed FX, and my current 21 -year -old head, John Lanfarf, who is without analog.
I got the best function of its kind that anyone can get at all. This place is special – the best people, the best culture, and the best offers. For me, FX has no equal.
We are only good like our offers. God has bestowed on some of the most famous and leading shows and learn about culture in the history of television. I have had the opportunity to be a missionary for many talented producers, writers, actors, managers and craftsmen. In many cases, they acquire friends for life all the way. It was an honor to work for them.
I am also grateful to journalists and critics with whom I worked with these many years, and to cover FX and our offers. We may not always agree on everything they write or say – often, we do it already – but they are vital and independent of our performance, and important performance cards.
Who leads me to this place. We have the best leaders anywhere. John is unique. It is an inspiring and stimulating thing that you have a person at the top asking more than anyone else in the organization. I can’t imagine anyone on his level more concerned or has a better relationship with his colleagues, regardless of his title. The man is the best. I am very grateful for his partnership and friendship.
Nick and Jenna as an entertainment president, and Steve as a marketing head of marketing. The intellectual and creative power of every leader in the department is left in a daily dread – Cat, Jonathan, Katcher, Chuck, Kelly, Karen, Jolly B. I know that you and your teams will continue to do an unusual work, ensuring that FX is still a standard carrier of excellence in this industry.
To my colleagues – Lauren, Roslin, Lana, Susan, Adriana, Alana, Amanda, Jesse, John and the team – you are the most skilled, trade trading, advertising for photos, talent relationships, events and prizes on this planet. You raise everything you touch. I was benefiting from your tremendous talent and I am very grateful to all of you.
Finally, I could not simply do this job without love and encourage my children, Owen, Thomas, Nick and my daughter Annie, and most of all my wife, Mif. As a telecommunications executive director, marriage to a producer and writer with a professional fraud symbol made me better in my job. It was next to me throughout this trip and always gave me invaluable advice. He is not the same without it.
The sympathy and support that I have extended to my family over the past six years means more than you can know. Speak to the fibers of you. The same applies to my colleagues in Disney, especially Bob and Dana, Eric, who has been my brother for the past 25 years, Joe, Dibra, Sonia, Shannon, Naomi, Kandis, Christina, Paul, Michel, Barry, Lasi and many others. This sympathy and support represent the scale of this company and its people.
While this was a difficult decision, the time is right. FX will always be part of me. I am grateful to all of you.
Stay fear.
GodSpeed,
John
