‘They should be tracked down and reported’: the best (and worst) supermarket hummus tasted and rated by Honey & Co | Middle Eastern food and drink

toEt start warning: We have serious problems with the concept of anti -chickpeas. Some declines give themselves to life, but for us, chickpeas resemble bread: something that should be fresh daily. In fact, in Our restaurantsWe make a batch every day, and the ponds we sell in good delicious foods for three.
We also want to challenge the idea that the relegymade is a “healthy” snack. Recently made with chickpeas and chefs, lemon, salt, garlic, and perhaps a little cumin, yes, chickpeas are useful. However, most of those we tested have added an oil (olive oil in the best, vegetable oils in the rest), some of which included preservatives and others no correct.
For most of your chickpeas needs, we recommend buying from a specialist, or best of that, which makes you for the use of good canned quality Chickpeas Take me. It comes together in seconds and tastes much better than anything you can buy. However, we are not even above a known diving from time to time, and chickpeas are in fact the ideal companion for the spread of the office, or a long train riding or improvised picnic, so we may know the good of bad.
Best Supermarket Homs
Best all of the founder:
The original Heavenly Houmous of Ramona
3.50 pounds for 500 g in Tesco (70p/100g)
3.50 pounds for 500 g in sainsbury’s (70p/100g)
★★★ ☆
This is truly chickpeas tastes, which is great, and not surprising, it contains more chickpeas (66 %) of any of the others who have been tested. Not very lemon, very seasoned, but in a good way. Not a few additions, though.
Better boasting:
Smoker
1.95 pounds, compared to 150 grams in Morrison (1.30/100 grams)
1.95 pounds, compared to 150 grams in Sensbury (1.30/100 grams)
★★★ ☆
Very left chickpeas, but one we enjoyed completely. Smoke comes through strong and enjoyable. It is vinegar, too, which is unusual, but it works in this context. Nice texture and mostly natural ingredients. Great like dive or filler.
The best deal:
Classic
2.50 pounds for 250 g in ocado (1/100G £)
★★★ ☆☆
Smooth, easy to eat and with a seizure cover. The spices are balanced, but the texture is a bit. It is also loaded with oil, preservatives and additives, and has a long -standing long life, and it is not good if you avoid UPFS.
The rest …
2.75 pounds for 170 g in waitrose (1.62/100 grams)
★★★ ☆☆
The package is good and easy to open. It cannot be rested, but the quantity is suitable for one sitting. The texture is loved, the spices are largely, and the oil makes it very rich. However, these are somewhat decent things, with no preservatives, additions and natural ingredients.
After promoting the newsletter
3 pounds for 170 g in ocado (1.76/100g pounds)
★★★ ☆☆
The texture is ventilated in an unpleasant way, and it has a claggy mouth and almost a metal flavor. Homs looked at the top a nice touch, but they were not cooked.
Yarden Houmous Classique
2.65 pounds for 250 g in Tesco (1.06/100 grams)
2.65 pounds for 250 grams in OCADO (1.06/100 grams)
★★★ ☆☆
These tastes are so similar to SABRA that we thought it might be made by the manufacturer itself. The accurate inspection of the package confirmed our doubts (see above to obtain the ruling), and we felt very proud of our tastes.
2.95 pounds for 185 grams in Waitrose (1.59/100 grams)
3.95 pounds for 185 grams in Okado (2.14/100 grams of pounds)
★★★ ☆☆
We really wanted to enjoy this, but we could not. The glass jar is elegant, but there were strange and water residue at the top. The texture voltage is strange (not different from plaster), and the flavor is what you imagine that the tastes of plaster. However, stop citric acid, everything is normal.
Sainsbury’s classic Houmous
99p for 200g in Sainsbury’s (50p/100g)
☆☆☆☆
The container’s call is in a paper cover, but this is where the positives end. Small at each level: resembles high glue (it is divided and homogeneous), chickpeas are chalk, thieves, and turmoil, and it has a taste that remains in a way that makes you want to clean your teeth forever. Avoid at any cost.
Tesco Humus
99p for 200g in Tesco (50p/100g)
☆☆☆☆
Time just like the Sainsbury version, and we doubt that it is made using the same misleading recipe by the manufacturer itself. If this is the case, they should be followed and reported.
