Adam Carolla on evacuating his Malibu home, exiting California and doing fire jokes: ‘Make sure it’s funny’

While the destroyed forest fires are transmitted through several pockets from Los Angeles, they still influence the population of all aspects of life – including comedians, whose mission is to make people laugh at these times of tragedy, even with some also evacuated their homes.

Bodikaster, Cobra, and comedy in southern California, who has long been in Malibu, spoke with the Times about his experience in evacuating fires, and how his residence miraculously survived. Carola, who was constantly performing in Los Angeles and all over the country, has spoken of what he knows so far about the city of Malibu, the next vehicles – including Hollywood comedy fiction camp At the end of this week – his views about jokes about fires and other tragedies. He also talked about his decision to leave California due to state policies and taxes, and where he ultimately plans to move.

I lived in Malibu for some time, and I was in the middle of the firefighting area. How was the evacuation process for you?

I got my apartment in Malibu for five years and another place in another part of the city for a few years as well. I was living in Malibu outside for 18 years. When it comes to evacuation, I don’t feel easily fear, and it takes a lot to intimidate me. I was not scary at all. The wires mostly worry about inconvenience, or somehow embarrassing as I do something to slow something or hurt someone or something. These are my default settings, don’t worry really about fear or personal safety. I am more worried about protocols or tightening something and embarrassing myself. I was living in a hotel in Borbank for a few days. They are still not allowed to return to our homes. But I am now staying at the house of my friend, Dr. Drew, near Pasadina.

You have a lot of neighbors who lost their homes and characteristics. Do you have any updated information you have heard about the status of the area you live in?

Well, I am not sure of Santa Monica or Pacific Palisades. But in the city center, as in the proper Malibu, at this point, I would like to say that it seems that 75 % to 80 % of homes and companies have just disappeared, burned on the ground, and nothing remains. The hill area, is somewhat expected, but near the ocean on the PCH, and this is crazy to the belief, it is just complete destruction, people are still shocking, and yes, I had many neighbors like me who fortunately made He made it safe, but many of them lost their homes. I have a good friend who lost two places, one on PCH and one in Ocean Malibu. Both went. This is an approximate spot to be.

Through the disaster you are still working, even registering your podcast episode a day after evacuation from your Burbank Hotel room, playing comic shows. How do you do that?

They are just wires to continue work. However, I will admit, that this week was a whirlwind. But I am happy that I have some interesting offers. What I aspire to is Hollywood comedy fiction camp. We do it again, and we will enjoy some fun at this time again in Hollywood. Many of my friends like Jay Lino, Brad Williams and Natasha Legogro, and there will be more.

As a professional comedy, do you think it is not sensitive or “very early” to make jokes around the last fires, or any other major disaster or tragedy?

Well, I have no rules about what the nick can make jokes; There are no rules, it is up to the individual comedy. For me personally, I think you can make a joke about anything; There are no limits. But personally, I do not like things that mean or inaccurate and medium unnecessary. But the first rule in my book is that the joke should be funny. I don’t like it when people mean only for it to mean. But hey, when it comes to the tragedy, if you have a joke about fires, let us call that. But warn again, just make sure it’s funny. Those that only means and not funny are a kind of strange for me.

Do you think that there is any kind of positivity that can come from these tremendous catastrophic fires?

Fires may eventually lead to something positive in Los Angeles, I think it is possible. Los Angeles may hit the bottom of the rocks with this disaster, and something good can come out of this. People always ask me when things will change here in Los Angeles, and during the years I have always told them, perhaps when things are outside, and for me, everything burns on the ground in my neighborhood, yes, this collides with the bottom. I hope something positive will happen in the future – we will see. In Los Angeles, politicians tend to spend money on nonsense, then we have to reduce our belt and tighten it on important things, then we face the problems of such fires. If it is up to me, you will take me to pay for the police, fire and comprehensive safety as top priorities, everything else comes after that, but it seems that the leaders in Los Angel [Mayor] Karen Bass and California ruler Gavin New No. they do not see things in this way.

For years so far, I have risen from leaving California and going anywhere, to live in any other state. Have you finally made a decision to live in it, and when will you leave California?

Oh yes, since Covid and before that, I was talking about getting out of California. They are policies and taxes. I haven’t decided any country to move to, but I finally chose. I bought some lands in Nevada, and I have to build my place first, so I will be in California until this will take place and it will take one minute. People always ask me what some of the reasons why I leave the state, and always tell them, from the state and the local level, it is not going well. I pay a lot in taxes, a lot. So, do a lot of people who earn a lot of money, and even just people from medium to medium. We pay a lot in taxes and what do we happen? All of these people do this is trying to take more and more money from workers. I went beyond that, I have finished it, and for this reason I move. However, don’t worry, I will still wander in a comic, so I will not be strange to Los Angeles or Hollywood.
