Who’s the coolest person at your July 4 barbecue? They got six things goin’ on, according to a new study
There may be an international team of researchers who may crack the symbol of what makes someone “great”.
Regardless of where you live, the personal features that make someone “wonderful” look consistent in the countries, according to the study, published this week in Experimental Psychology Magazine.
The researchers found that, compared to people who are considered “good” or “favorable”, those who are considered “Barden” are seen as more prevalent, enjoyable, strong, adventure, open and independent.
“It was the most surprising thing to see the same characteristics appear in every country,” said Todd Bizuti, Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Adolfo Ebans at Chile, who was a participant in the study.
He said: “Regardless of whether China, Korea, Chile, or the United States are people like people who pay the border and fly change,” he said. “So I would like to say that the cold really represents something more essential than the actual poster of cold.”
“Wonderful” is not the same “good”
The researchers – from the University of Adolfo Ebans, the University of Arizona and the University of Georgia – conducted experiments from 2018 to 2022 with nearly 6000 people across dozens of countries: Australia, Chile, China, Germany, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, Türkiye, the United States.
Participants were asked to think about a person in their lives who see that they are “wonderful”, “not available”, “good” or “not good”. Then they were asked to evaluate the personality of that person using two scales: The five adult character scaleA widely used scientific model that helps in describing character characteristics, and Image values questionnaireIt aims to measure the basic values of the individual.
Participants in the study are constantly associated with being calm, conscience, global, acceptable, warm, safe, traditional and compatible with being a good person, more than a great person. Being both was “cool” and “good” but not also clear. But the formula because it was “cold” was the presence of six personal features – more separation, sectarian, strong, adventurous, open and independent – regardless of the age of a person, sex or level of education.
Pezzuti does not believe that these “wonderful” features are something that can be taught.
He said, “We were born with these features.” “Five of these features are personal features, and character features tend to be somewhat stable.”
Participant researcher Calip Warren, an assistant in the Marketing at the University of Arizona, said that the research showed that cold people and good people are not the same, but there may be some overlapping features.
“To be seen as wonderful, a person usually needs to be somewhat loved or impressive, which makes it similar to good people,” He said in a press release. “However, cold people often have other features that are not necessarily” good “in the moral sense, such as being a doctrine and strong.”
There were restrictions on research is that the people who understood only “cold” had been included in the study. Pezzuti said it will be interesting – but it is difficult – determining whether the results will be similar between traditional cultures or distant groups than people who may be less familiar with the term.
“We do not know what we will find in traditional cultures such as hunting and collection tribes or agricultural groups to fight,” said Bezoti.
He said: “One of the things we suggest is that in those cultures, people” cold “have no important role because innovation, or cultural innovation is not important in those cultures.” “So I would like to say that the wonderful people are likely to be present in those cultures, but their role is not great, and perhaps they are not like as they are in other cultures.”
“Cool” can be controversial
When they are asked to think about a public or famous figure who embodies the “cold” based on his research, Pezzuti immediately said Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk.
“He is a controversial figure, but the person who comes to my mind is Elon Musk,” Bezoti said, adding that he checks all the six -character boxes specified in the study.

He said that Musk is “uninterrupted” and independent, and it appears to be open because of its presence on social media platforms and in the media.
“I hear shy, and perhaps more shy than what appears, but from a strange person, he looks very open. It’s entertaining. He is on podcast and always in front of the cameras,” Bizoti explained.
He said that some musk behavior also appears to be a doctrine. “he Marijuana smoked on the most popular podcast In the world, “Joe Rogan experience”.
Paisoti added that Musk ideas about the colonization of Mars Show him to be open and adventurous.
Junah Berger, associate professor of marketing at Warton Business College at the University of Pennsylvania, said the new paper is one of the few experimental studies that study what makes people “exact” exactly. “
“While people have long asked (and the theory) about what makes people cold, there was not much actual experimental research on this topic, so it is great to see the work exploring this space,” said Burger, who did not participate in the new paper in an email.
He said: “Although cold may seem to be something that was born with him, there are definitely steps that people can take to try to move in this direction.” “Given the number of people who want to be cold, and how much money is spent with this goal in mind, it seems useful for definitely studying.”
John Freeman, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Colombia, said that future research in this field can evaluate cold along with goodness and badness instead.
“In real life, coldness can be a positive quality but can have a negative indication of certain social contexts,” said Freeman, who also did not participate in an email message.
He said: “From a scientific point of view, Cool seems to be more productive for inference and social construction more than genetics, although the low -level mood enlightened by heredity can feed on the constant construction of the character.”
“Cold” deeply rooted in our social vocabulary because it is an abbreviation of complex inferences. It surrounds the signals of the situation, belonging and identity in ways that are immediate but immediate but affecting the field of Khalisi’s conclusion, especially, especially, especially, the study of cooling, and the study of social media in particular.
