IEEE Power & Energy Society Boosts Student Scholarship to $10,000

During the past 13 years, IEEE Energy and Energy Association (PES) granted scholarships worth $ 4.6 million to university students in North America who are studying energy engineering as part of its program Additional Scholarship Initiative.
PES has increased the grant amount this year to $ 10,000, after it was $ 7,000. Recreen, who are not necessary to be members of IEEE students, are qualified to get up to three years of financial support but they must re -apply every year. They can apply for a grant early in their first year.
Grant It is funded by Donors. This increase is partly due to a $ 1 million donation from a family institution.
If the recipients continue to fulfill the requirements, they will receive $ 2000 for each of the first two years and 3000 dollars for the third years.
PES scholars are presented Guidance By senior energy and engineering specialists. They also get one year free student membership in IEEE and society.
“The amount has not changed since the creation of the program [in 2011]”But the cost of education increased, so we wanted to make sure that the beneficiaries have more financial support.” Daniel TulandPES operations manager.
Scholarships have been expanded
The association also made other changes on the program based on the comments of supporters and donors. Previously, the beneficiaries were asked to obtain a university degree in energy and energy, but the industry needs engineers with backgrounds in all areas of IEEE interest – not only energy and energy – to meet its employees’ needs, according to the survey participants.
The program is now open for students who are seeking a Bachelor’s degree in other areas of attention that IEEE has identified and energy and energy. It includes electrical, civil, computer, environmental and mechanical engineering; Computer Science; Data analyzes; Renewable energy; Sustainability studies.
“The main goal of the program has always been to involve the largest possible number of university students and engage in the electricity and energy industry,” says Tuland.
Students can apply online from January 20 to April 30. To learn more, email PES-Scholarship-info@eee.org.
