Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. arrested by ICE, facing deportation: Mexican boxer accused of cartel involvement

Ministry of Internal Security Thursday announced The Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Junior has been arrested by ICE and faces deportation for being in the United States illegally as fleeing justice in Mexico, where officials say he has an active arrest warrant for his involvement in organized crime as a company affiliated with Cardel Snalua. Among criminal activities, Chavez is accused of participating in firearms, ammunition and explosives.

According to law enforcement, Chavez, 39, entered the United States legally in August 2023 through a B2 tourist visa, which expired in February 2024, and submitted a request to obtain a permanent legal status in April 2024 on the basis of his marriage to an American citizen.
