On Thursday, beloved sportscaster Bob UeckerThe voice of the Milwaukee Brewers for more than half a century, he died at age 90 after a private battle with small cell lung cancer.
Uecker was a starter for the Milwaukee baseball team and will be mourned by fans of all teams this season (and every season). There have been countless tributes to Uecker on social media.
One such honor came from Alex Rodriguez, who played for the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and New York Yankees before retiring in 2016.
But it seems he made a simple mistake:
Heartbroken by the loss of Bob Uecker, one of baseball’s iconic voices. He brought joy not only to Cleveland but to baseball fans everywhere. His signature phrases, such as “Get up!” I wake up! Get out of here! He’s gone!” He will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace Bob 💔 pic.twitter.com/re87hKQ1sB

Now, it’s entirely possible that it’s a reference to the movie “Major League” where Uecker played Harry Doyle, the play-by-play announcer for the fictional version of the Cleveland Indians. But the photo — which shows Uecker in both Milwaukee Braves and Milwaukee Brewers hats — suggests it wasn’t and that A-Rod swung and missed.
X users wasted no time enjoying this:

This is a real deck in Milwaukee, in the flight path of Mitchell Airport. This writer saw this with her own eyes.

About 436 miles abroad.
Your ability to connect with your audience rivals Uecker’s ability to play baseball.

Oh, my God.
This is absolutely perfect.
(For starters, Oaker wasn’t the best baseball player, which he often joked about.)
Cleveland/Mikwaukee What’s the difference right???

A) This tweet is still uploaded
B) He pays for Twitter so he can edit it
c) ARod apparently runs his own Twitter. https://t.co/4DuCP29VDB– Dominic Cotroneo (@Dom_Cotroneo) January 17, 2025
All right.
This writer also took a screenshot in case it was deleted.

And maybe it is. It’s inside baseball, if that.
But you’re right – this is what Yuk wanted.
