Katarina Zhu Plays Struggling Cam Girl

Writer, director and star Katarina ChuThe debut feature is a personal portrait of fulfillment, bringing a nuanced perspective to the universal themes of fatherhood, privilege, and self-love.
in BunnylovrChu plays Becca, a 20-year-old Chinese American struggling through life in New York City while moonlighting as a cam girl. Her life takes a turn when a steady client sends her a rabbit live, which she calls milk. Meanwhile, she bumps into her estranged father, who dies in the street.
To have everyone in her life touched and recognized by everyone. She is her father William’s (Perry Young) lucky charm, helping him count cards in the park; She’s her best friend Bella (Rachel Sinnott) Moses, although the artist ultimately makes her feel violated with her “feminist” creative license; Her ex Carter (Jack Kilmer) and her regular client Cam Joon (Austin Amelio) sees her as just property.
Despite his thinly veiled toxic behavior, Becca begins to find comfort in her video chats with John. It doesn’t hurt that he offers a financial incentive in exchange for her virtual companionship, a dynamic that represents a real power imbalance in many relationships.
Through a series of depraved virtual encounters with John, Rabbit finally represents the agency she finally takes and cares for herself. Hesitant to keep the animal at first, given the strings attached, Becca soon grows protective over her new pet. Without spoiling the movie’s emotional arc, another furry friend seems to symbolize her making peace with her father.
While Sennott gives another self-aware comedic performance as Becca’s breakout PAL artist, their friendship walks an emotional arc that’s too real for anyone lucky enough to have a friend who cares deeply and fiercely about them at the end of the day.
Ultimately, the film is about a group of deviant people who have never been able to satisfy themselves until she eventually finds release (pun very intended) and reaches a place of awakening, embracing the good in her life and leaving behind painful parasitic relationships.
Inspired by Cho’s own relationship with her absent father and the other men in her life, Bunnylovr It takes audiences on a monthly journey through the ephemeral experience of floating online while seeking intimacy in the digital age.
