A.I. and Vibecoding Helped Me to Create My Own Software

I am not the programmer. I can’t write a single line from Python, JavaScript or C ++. With the exception of a short period of time in adolescence when I built web sites and tampered with flash duties, I was never a software engineer, nor did I not put the aspirations of giving up the press for a profession in the technology industry.
However, over the past few months, you have been a storm symbol.
Among my creativity: PodCast Long, a reference regulation tool on social media in a search database, a web site tells me whether a piece of furniture will suit my car trunk and an application called Lunchbox Buddy, which analyzes my refrigerator contents and helps me to determine what I must pack it for my son’s lunch.
These creations are all possible thanks to artificial intelligence, and the new artificial intelligence trend known as “VibCoding”.
Vibecoding, a popular term by artificial intelligence researcher Andrej KarpathyIt is a useful shortcut to the way AI allows today even non -technician hobbies to build applications and web sites that operate at full capacity, only by writing claims in a text box. You do not have to know how to code code – just having an idea, simple patience, is usually sufficient.
“It is not really coding,” Mr. Karpathy books This month. “I just see things, say things, run things, copy miraculous things, and mostly work.”
My own trade aims to make what I call “software for one” – small customized applications that solve specific problems in my life. These are not the types of tools that a large technology company can build. There is no real market for them, its advantages are limited and some are only from work.
But building software in this way-describing a problem in a sentence or sentence, watching a strong AI model, is the work in building a tool dedicated to solving it-a great experience. It results in feeling Amnesty InternationalLike what I felt after using Chatgpt for the first time. It is the best way to show it to question the capabilities of the artificial intelligence models today, which can now automate large pieces of basic computer programming, and may soon be able to similar tragedies in other areas.
Artificial intelligence coding tools exist for years. The previous ones, such as Github Copilot, are designed to help professional programmers work faster, partly by completing their code lines in the same way that ChatGPT complete sentences. You still need to know how to cord with the maximum benefit from it, and enter when artificial intelligence stumbles.
But over the past year or two, new tools have been built to take advantage of the most powerful artificial intelligence models that even enable the wealthy to program like positives.
These tools, which include the indicator, the return, the bolts and the beloved, all work in similar ways. Due to the user’s demand, the tool comes with a design, decides the best software packages and programming languages that must be used, and reach a product building. Most products allow free use limited, with paid levels that open better features and the ability to build more things.
Without programming, Vibecoding can feel like magic. After writing your exciting and mysterious lines of software instructions, and after a few seconds, if things go well, the initial working model appears. Users can suggest modifications and reviews, and when they help them, they can spread their new product on the web, or run it on their computers. The process can take only a few minutes, or as long as several hours, depending on the complexity of the project.
Here’s what it seemed when I asked Bolt to build an application that can help me fill out a school lunch for my son, based on a picture downloaded to the contents of the refrigerator:
The application analyzed the task first and broke it in component parts. Then I got the work. He created a basic web interface, chose the image recognition tool to determine the foods in the refrigerator and develop an algorithm to recommend its meals based on those elements.
If I need artificial intelligence to make a decision – whether I wanted to list the food facts of the foods he recommended, for example – pushed me with several options. Then it will explode and symbolize more. When I hit an obstacle, I tried to correct her own symbol, or step back before you stumbled and tried a different way.
About 10 minutes after entering the claim, Buddy Buddy – which decided to call my application – was ready. You can try it yourself here. (The version that you created includes the tool to identify the artificial intelligence images that cost the money to use; for this public web version, I replaced it with the feature of identifying simulator images so that I do not raise a huge bill.)
Not all the experiences of my Vibecoding. I had been experiencing for weeks to create the “Autopilot Incoming” tool able to respond to my email messages automatically, in my style of writing. I faced road barriers when trying to integrate artificial intelligence flows into applications like Google Photos and iOS Voice Memos, which are not designed to play well with third -party additional functions.
Of course, artificial intelligence sometimes makes errors. Once, when I tried to create a web for the tire store in my neighborhood, artificial intelligence made fake comments from the store’s Yelp page and added it to the certificate page. Again, when I tried to convert a long story I wrote on an interactive website, artificial intelligence included about half of the text and prevented the other half.
In other words, Vibecoding is still benefiting from the presence of humans in overseeing robots, or at least hovering nearby. It may be better for hobbies projects, not basic tasks.
This may not be true for a longer period. Many AI companies are working on software engineering agents that can replace all human programmers. Indeed, Amnesty International is investigating World -class grades In competitive programming tests, and many major technology companies, including Google, she got a large part of her engineering work for artificial intelligence systems. (Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, Recently said The symbol created from artificial intelligence is more than a quarter of all the new code published in Google.)
If you are a junior programmer – it seems likely to replace artificial intelligence – I may panic about my job prospects. But I am just a man who loves to tamper with, and build tools that improve my life in small ways. Vibecoding – or actual coding – is one of the areas where artificial intelligence improves unambiguously.
Since talking about my experience On my podcast last weekI heard from dozens of other people who were building their tools with the help of artificial intelligence. Colleagues told me about the nutrition applications they designed to help them adhere to their diets, or the tools they use to summarize newsletters via e -mail they get. I have sent readers on the web sites they built Track the price of eggsOr scrape the Zillow lists in Los Angeles to Discover counterparts of rental inflation After the shooting.
Few of these tools to change the world themselves. What is new and noticeable is that with some key strikes, amateurs can now build products that will require a team of engineers.
I am not a Polianich about artificial intelligence, or blind about the effects that artificial coding applications can cause on society if it continues to improve. I think artificial intelligence that is automated can also build useful programs also lead to the automation of the creation of harmful code, or even leads to independent electronic attacks. I am concerned that software engineering is just the first white -collar profession that experiences effects that withdraw work for artificial intelligence tools.
But at the present time, the construction of applications to automate annoying or consuming tasks in my life seem to be a good use of artificial intelligence like any. So I will stay on feeding – at least so that my child can fill his lunch.
