Lando Norris ‘confident’ but not ‘comfortable’ after FP2 at Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Lando Norris topped the timing papers in the second training session on Friday before the Saudi Grand Prix in Formula 1, and his teammate Oscar Baysri by 0.163 seconds. Norris P2 ended during the first training session earlier in the day, only 0.007 seconds behind Pierre Gasly, but the second session is more representative of what can be expected than the grand prize in the field of qualifiers, given the beginning of the night.

After the session, Nuris spoke as “confident”, but in any way “comfortable” given the competitive nature of this field.

“I think at the moment we feel confident, but others are not far from the knees”, ” Norris said.

“Maybe I hoped to get a gap greater than we have today. We know that we are fast, and we know that we have a great car but definitely uncomfortable, and not comfortable as we want. Nothing more than that, keep our heads down, focus on ourselves and see what we can do.”

Max Verstapen, the hero of the ruling drivers, ranked third during the FP2.

Norris added: “He always feels chaos here because it is very fast. A lot of walls, and a lot of near mistakes,” Norris added.

“I think today was a day in an attempt to work on my driving, as I worked on myself more than trying to work on the car. I think it is a good start for the weekend, gained confidence, and gaining the feeling. So from what I wanted to achieve today, I think about the right paths.”

For his part, piasstri Description As “reasonably comfortable”, but note that he and McLaren have some things to “calm” before the qualifiers.

“It was a decent day, and I think the pace was good and felt reasonable.”

“There were a few angles I needed to try to do a little better action tomorrow, but everything in everything seemed to be a good day. I think the pace was good, some things were still not perfect but still feel satisfied.”

Andrea Stella, director of McLaren, described on Friday as “positive” on the first day in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Stella said in the team’s report after the session: “It was the first positive day here in Jeddah, where we were able to complete a number of important test elements and create a reasonable basis for performance,” Stella said in the team’s report after the session. “We have completed a large number of rolls, which enabled drivers to build confidence, which is especially important in this high -speed circuit, but technically.

“After saying this, the field looks tightly crowded, and we will need to extract the maximum capabilities from the car to qualify. We have a lot of data to analyze this evening and we look forward to returning to the right track tomorrow.”
