Luke Clanton’s approach to pressure has him on PGA Tour’s doorstep

The Great Bobby Jones simplified the competitive golf into a simple talisman, albeit, “It is a game that is played in a five -inch cycle, one inside your head.”
Every week on PGA tourYou see how a person’s mind dominates the man’s swing. Do not look further than Brian Campbell, who felt very tense Play of the second Playoff in the open Mexico He almost hit the starting point from the border. Fortunately for him, he acquired the break of life – the ball wore playing off the bamboo tree box. Then he won for the first time later, an emotional victory nine years in making.
Those who flourish under the pressure of disciplines in bouquets. Perhaps no one has a stronger mental stability than Tiger Woods, which lives in moments packed with pressure.
Then there Luke Clenon, 21,Who, with cutting this week in The Cograph It will be a great achievement if Clinton does it, especially since he is still young Florida state. But Clinton put himself in this position thanks to the enormous amateur profession, which started before he was a teenager.
In the 2015 American World Championship, which was held at Talamore Golf Club in southern Pines, North Carolina, Clinton remembers the tension throughout the day. He was only 11 years old.
“I know this looks a kind of ridiculous, but we played a set of local events that arose and whatever, and that was our biggest event in the year,” Clunton recalls on Wednesday.
“My father was on the bag, and I remember I was trembling in 18.”
He won the championship by four, proving that he is able to calm the butterflies in his stomach even at an early age. On the first day, he posted 7-ander 65, and he silenced any prior doubts about himself.
“Pressure is a kind of word that I do not like to use,” added Clinton.
“I love to use excitement because it is exciting. You are there you are trying to do your best and accomplish the things that people train on. Once again, I think the pressure and excitement are all, it is an honor for me to feel that it is generally.”
This approach helped Claunton’s launch in the star. But this does not mean that he is fortified of pressure.
At the WM Phoenix Open in early February, Clanton received another exemption from the shepherd to play between the positives again. This has been the tenth start of the PGA tour since last summer, so Clinton had already achieved a lot of playing before that. He even cut off We are open.
But Clinton did not play in front of a crowd like the person surrounding Sixteenth hole in TPC Scottsdale. Thousands of screaming lovers give chaos, and often turn the player’s mind into Pretzel. Perhaps this happened to Klanton on the first day, as it fell on 74 – three shots on an equal footing and out of the cutting line. The next day, Clanton made two spectrums and two vehicles on his first 10 holes and still 3 in the tournament by the time when he reached the difficult Par-4.
He also sat five shots below the broken line and needed the 1986 Jack Nicholas gathering to make him close. Throwing in the fact that making pieces would give him the membership of the PGA tour, and tension is only from there. But this did not slow down. Instead, embrace it. He raised the eleventh hole and then crossed another cut in the Par-5 13 race.
“We thought about cutting 14 ascending, mainly,” says Clinton later.
When he arrived at PAR-5 15, with famous cholesterm at the sixteenth in the background, Clinton sat on 1 in the tournament, and three shots of the pieces. He needed to finish 3 less than the last four holes, a task that can be implemented but difficult along the closing TPC scottsdale. He raised the fifteenth hole, two equally at the sixteenth of the sixteenth, then made three on the 17th Par-4 Par-4. This paves the stage for an action position or nothing in the eighteenth.
Clanton launched his engine in the middle of the corridor and then placed Ribet on the flag. Adrenaline led to this additional load, as the ball settled 18 feet outside the cup. He now had a group to earn a PGA tour card, but unfortunately, he was not supposed to be.
“It was a great day today. I had an explosion. Clanton said after that.
“I had to make five birds in the last eight holes and put four and gave a great opportunity in 18 years. It is difficult. It is difficult to take. But again, I will walk in my faith and continue to understand that it is not my time.”
Despite this relative, Clinton has proven more. He explained how he knows how to deal with pressure, even amid all the TPC scottsdale.
“The pressure is a privilege. This is a big thing that everyone says, and this is true. Clanton said about his experience in Phoenix on Wednesday:” I looked at the matter as a few nerves at the beginning of the week, and after we got to Thursday, it was surprising that we play with Justin Thomas and then again with my good friend Nick Denlab. “
“It did not go this week, and you can look at it as a failure, but I look at it as a learning, as we always say, and again, I will try to stay at the present time as much as I can. Everyone is trying to say to lead to the pieces, but I want to play well. I want to try to go out and play the best I can. I try to turn this mentality from just making the pieces to try to compete actually in this event.”
This mentality will continue to pay the stock profits in the future – perhaps even this week in South Florida.
