Mercedes-Benz electric G-Wagen review: king of the off-road

As far as it is exciting to see how electrical technology redefines the transportation of cars, it is quite exciting to see how it already changes what we have. In the post -sale, Ristomods has become very high. But directly from manufacturers, there is great potential in the electrical Legacy badges by mixing the old design smoothly with a new technology.
An example 2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ technologyKnown as EV Geländewagen (a German car for all terrain), or G-wagen. Starting from $ 162,650, the G580 remains a reality for the original design format but also uses EV technology to enhance its ingenuity on the rough roads and comprehensive attractiveness as it is a daily luxury SUV.
If this is not to switch the backup tire holder of a smaller storage box with a shipping cable, you may have a problem in distinguishing the G580 of the G550 and AMG G 63 siblings. Be reassuring, things are completely different under it. Instead of the internal combustion engine capacity and driving engine, each wheel has a permanent synchronous, magnetic and two -speed transmission, with combined output networks of 579 hp and 859 lb -pound torque.
G580 remains a reality for the original design format.
Energy saving for these units is a 116 kW battery package, located in the middle of the structure and protected by a thick paper of carbon composite materials. It is also a waterproof, and the G580 enables rolling through the water depth of 33.5 inches – approximately six more than 550 and 63. Shipping is classified on the plane on 9.6 kW, and the fast DC is shipped at a speed of 200 kW, allowing it to charge from 10 to 80 percent in less than 32 minutes.
The range is classified on 238 miles, which may seem low, but it is understandable for something heavy, tall, and is characterized by a very non -dynamic manner. I saw up to 200 miles in the mixed driving that was mostly on highways.
What people tend to either forget or simply know that G-wagen has always been on rough roads. The new G580 does not shout from this formula, but it passes a step forward by mixing the EV movement with the traditional road structure on rough roads. The result is a harmonious mixture of old and new technology.
Adaptive dampens and traditional file springs sit on a fixed journey and associated with its structure on the body by preparing a double bone in the foreground, which is a solid rear axis outside the front. This allows up to 9.8 inches of ground clearance, as well as a 32 -degree approach, leave 30.7 degrees, and spreading angles of 20.3 degrees.
My TestBed was the Rowher Flats Off-Hightway in California. Initially, I had some reservations about the Falken Summer Street tires, but it was rapidly dissipated: this thing was impressive in how it took a good variety of climbing and landing, and in some threatened corners. One of the great benefits in EV PowerTrains is that the traction control is very accurate due to a fewer ingredients that increase the grip. Busty, the Great G slides a frame across soft and coarse gravel, small and large rocks, and every other form of Terra Verma in this part of the country.
G-wagen has always been highly capable of rough roads.
I participated in its low range, which connects a traditional low gear that was appointed by enabling the reducing gears to each engine for more immediate torque, but I don’t think it was necessary. A specific path routinely has up to 44 degrees from the stadium, up and down, but the Banzi resembles the box simply did not care. After that, when I tried to reduce the rear expression of the rear axis on some of the complex and installed features in one slope section, in the striking photography service, I left with a boring scene of all tires that touch the Earth in confidence.
Finally, I had to try one of the most party tricks in the G580: G transformed. This is the preparation that allows it to rotate 180 degrees in its place, and it is completely entertaining behind the steering wheel as it is for viewing. There is a case of use, such as when you have to change the direction and there is no room for a multiple role – however, the surrounding public area should be completely flat. It is definitely a narrow application, but who cares? It is fun like hell.
Once I returned to the paved civilization, the G-Lagen took over his most common identity as a comfortable comfortable SUV with a large comprehensive vision. Although the scale turns at 6,746 lbs, this thing wins in a straight line and will reach 60 miles per hour in less than five seconds. The presence of such Joie De Vivre may seem in a narrow and misleading package in the beginning, but it actually showed a strong sporting sport on the twisted roads.
I never wanted to decrease EV faster
Unless someone is keen on his appearance or the negative connotations of the emblem, you don’t like much of Mercedes-Benz G580. It is fun on off -road, comfortable throughout the city, quickly, and has a driver’s view that makes him a great dancer in the city. His collection is not the greatest, but I will not say it is a major problem as well, unless one is designed on a customized screw platform.
Despite its sharp price, Mercedes reached a very special thing in the G580.
