PBS filed a federal lawsuit on Friday, asking the court to prevent the executive order on May 1 by the White House Trump to cut the financing to the public media, describing the violation of the first amendment.
The lawsuit from the service that broadcasts “Sesame Street”, Ken Burns, a document and “PBS NewShour” for free for millions of American homes, said that Congress has repeatedly protected PBS from political intervention by liquidating its money through the public broadcasting company, which is not a federal agency.

NPR, which also receives CPB financing, File a lawsuit on similar reasons Tuesday.
The White House claims that a TV program has “a zero tolerance of non -al -Yasifa destinations.” Trump’s order called for the end of the government dollars of CPB, a taxpayer -backed entity that provided funding for NPR and PBS for decades through Congress.
Trump described the public media “propaganda of the left wing.” The White House press statement, which announces the request – entitled “Ending the Support Support Support for Biads” – contained 19 bullet points indicating news coverage and other content by NPR and PBS that paid the procedure.
The PBS is a data suit that the White House, which was martyred, says to support this opinion inaccurate and distort the balanced range of views provided on PBS programs.
The White House also confirmed that government funding for the media is no longer necessary in an era in which consumers enjoy a wide range of platforms for information and entertainment. A television program was established when most of the country was only able to reach the three commercial broadcasting networks and a handful of other TV stations.
PBS also says that regardless of any disputes in the policy that the administration may be over public television, “Our constitution and our laws prevent the president from working as a ruling on PBS programming content, including by trying to enter PBS.”
