Prep talk: Freshman Shalen Sheppard of Brentwood is making an impact

Shalin Sheppard in November is very different from Shalin Sheppard in January. He’s nearly 6 feet tall, even just turned 15, and is making a big impact on Brentwood’s 21-3 basketball team as a freshman starter. He averages 17 points and eight rebounds per game.
“Amazing,” coach Ryan Bailey said of Sheppard’s development. He has progressed over the course of the season. He knows exactly what he’s doing. For someone who just turned 15, it’s amazing. He has a tremendous work ethic.”
Another freshman, Ethan Hill, contributed for the Eagles until she suffered an injury against Point. Brentwood plays at Windward on Monday for first place in the Gold Coast League in boys and girls basketball. …
