Ravens TE Mark Andrews says he’s ‘devastated’ in first public comments since playoff loss

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews took to Instagram on Thursday, breaking his silence after several fourth-quarter mistakes — a missed fumble and dropped two-point conversion to tie the game — during the team’s 27-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

“It is impossible to adequately express how I feel. I am devastated to my teammates, coaches and Ravens fans,” Andrews wrote. I pour every ounce of my being to play at the highest level possible, because I love my team and the game of soccer as much as anything else. That’s why it’s taken me so far to gather my thoughts and address this publicly. “

In the days following a season-ending loss at Baltimore, A.J GoFundMe fundraisingoriginally organized by Bills fan Nicholas Howard, has accumulated more than $100,000 through more than 3,000 donations to a charity close to Andrews’ heart, T1D breakthrough. Founded in 1970, the nonprofit focuses on type 1 diabetes research and advocacy for those who, like Andrews, are affected.

“Despite the negativity, I have seen love and heartfelt encouragement, including those who have generously donated to T1D Breakthrough,” Andrews wrote on Thursday. “Even when the moment seems the darkest, perspective can reveal that there is still so much light in this world. I will now do my part to bounce back and contribute.”

What’s next for Andrews?

That Andrews did not speak to reporters after Sunday’s game and was not in the locker room again Monday was out of character for the veteran tight end. He has long been one of the Ravens’ most accessible and accountable players. He received the Ravens Media Good Award earlier in his career for his cooperation with the media.

Obviously, his comments on his Instagram account won’t make this a non-match. Whenever Andrews next meets with the media, his action in the fourth quarter and dropping a potential conversion pass for the two-point shot in a two-point loss to the Bills will remain notable stories. However, it won’t be difficult for the Ravens and Andrews to move forward from this bitter loss without a tight end addressing it in some way.

This was already shaping up to be an interesting offseason for Andrews. He is in the final year of a four-year, $56 million contract. His salary cap rises to $16.9 million in 2025. Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed on Wednesday that Andrews is a big part of the team’s future, but complicating matters is the fact that Burtemore’s two tight ends, likely Isaiah and Charlie Kolar, are both headed to The last year of their contracts.
