Roku is testing a new look

Roku experiences a new main page aimed at facilitating jumping into your favorite applications and discovering new things to see. The test is presented to a small number of Roku users now and adds new sections such as Access Access, which automatically with applications you visit more than others.

This means that if you see Netflix a lot, or often look at Roku choosing motion movies via multiple applications, the service will put the shortcuts for those destinations under quick access. Currently, there is no way to remove applications or add applications to the fast access department manually, but Preston Samali, Vice President of Roku’s Viewer, says, he says freedom The company “is trying some different methods” for this.

“One of the things we know is really important is that it only needs to work outside the box,” said Samali. “We are definitely trying to know how much people want, but this is something we want to hear from customers.”

With re -design, you no longer land on the left sidebar when determining the “Home Page” button on the remote control device as well. Now, the index will appear automatically inside the network on the home page, while the plate on the left side remains closed.

Roku also transferred some painting options to the main network, including “Live TV” and “Free Distinguished”, with the aim of facilitating its finding. “We actually had some convincing and enjoyable destinations, but it was only a minority of the people who were finding them,” said Samali. “What we think will happen with this change, and with what we test, is that more users will actually discover some of these great ways to browse via the platform.”

These two options are now living under the “Best Broadcasting Services” section, along with some new tiles, such as “subscriptions”, where you can view all the subscription -based content, and “for you”, which Smalley said is “re -imagining” the option of “what to see” from Rocco that serves personal recommendations.

You will also find “what are you in a mood?” The section that allows you to browse shows and movies within different categories, such as “New & Popular”, “Food” and “Drama”. Although Roku is experimenting with different types of ads in recent months, the quantity – or its types – does not change as part of the redesign of this home page. An advertisement for a large marquee on the right side of the home page will remain in place, but Rocco moves advertising places under “your best choices”.

Samali added: “We are always looking to make the Roku experience better, easier, more attractive and more specialized,” Samali added. “What we want to do is to make sure that the home screen experience is well fit with how to watch TV today.”

As Roku continues to test his new design, things may move a little, so you may not see coordination as shown completely here. The company plans to collect the user’s notes before the change on a large scale, and it will also give users the ability to cancel the subscription to the update during the test.
