WASHINGTON – A commercial plane and a military helicopter collided nearby near Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday evening.
Both aircraft – an American eagle plane and the Black Hawk army – are located in the Botomac River. There were 64 people on board and three in the helicopter.
The accident occurred shortly before 9 pm East time. The number of injuries is unclear, as the search and rescue process continues.
President Donald Trump said in a statement on Wednesday night that he was fully briefed on the accident. He thanked the first respondents and said that he “will provide more details with their appearance.”
The airport is closed until at least 11 am on Thursday.
