SMC Telogorejo Hospital sees improved patient satisfaction with EMRAM Stage 6

The health of Semarang Medical Center (SMC) was validated in the center of Java, Indonesia, for the 6th stage of Himss Electronic medical registry adoption form.
The eight -stage model assesses the maturity of the organization in EMR capabilities.
A journey started with an application
The private hospital started 285 beds on the digital transformation in 2017 with the launch of its mobile app, mysmc. The application provides patients access to hospital and health information services and improves communication between the hospital and patients.
Two years later, the hospital presented its EMR system, which collected patient data, including medical records, laboratory results, radiology reports, and updated treatment date. The system also merged an electronic description with allergies, maximum dose, and drug reactions.
The following year, 2020, Dr. Alice Soto Lisa, CEO of SMC Telogrejo, said that the global epidemic “was forced [the hospital] To think about how to take advantage of the system to serve customers without limiting the place and time. “SMC was already witnessing approximately 480,000 outpatient clinics and 69,000 internal patients every year. To meet the increasing demand for care, the hospital provided remotely to patients less technology.
Online reservations, payments, and digital parking menu are also added to the MySMC app. “We were allowed to simplify the patient’s schedule, reduce waiting times, and reduce the need for physical waiting areas inside the hospital,” Dr. Lisa explained.
A year later, in 2021, the hospital began integrating AI and huge data for business analyzes, with the delivery of medical devices to the Internet of Things to the clinical decision support system.
Dr. Lisa said: “The Internet of Things allowed us to strengthen the EMR system to the next stage,” said Dr. Lisa. For example, she enabled the actual time entry of vital signs data, support for closed loop operations, transmission of blood products, laboratory tests, and breastfeeding.
In 2023, the hospital began linking the MySMC application database to the national health database of the Indonesian government, after the state regulations. It also participated in supporting the clinical decision and reference resources for drugs, emotion and lexicon.
After a meeting with Himss in the same year, the hospital worked to implement the Emram standards of stage 5.
Mem International Standards
SMC Telogrejo found that HIMSS criteria are in line with the task of digital transformation. “The standards pay great attention to patient safety and have great experience with clinical information needs. [They] Help us using EMR data and intensify it in the clinical decision support system to make useful decisions on medicines and treatment, “Coo Glenda Angeli.
“Other IT companies sometimes produce excellent programs, but they do not always merge patient safety features,” I noticed.
In preparing to check the health of the Emram, SMC Telogrejo was reviewing and enhancing various operations. The hospital created a more comprehensive notice function in the MySMC application and merged more organized data into its EMR systems. Data processing to support clinical decision has also been improved, as well as adding more data types such as diet requests and reports of progress in physical therapy to the hospital for it.
Cooperation with IT sellers and suppliers was very important, allowing inter -operation and various applications, such as Lis, RIS, PACS, ICCA, SatosatAnd JKN Mobile.
Forest workforce
On its journey, SMC Telogrejo has faced the challenges of managing change in the first place and the limited technological knowledge of employees, which require “somewhat high investments” to address them, according to the hospital.
“However, with the support of all stakeholders – from the owner and management to the entire team – it can be overcome all, and our entire team was in a high moral state in improving the quality of service,” B. stressed. Roberto Tamopolone, SMC Telogrejo Information Technology Officer.
“In the management of change, we participated in doctors and listened to their inputs regarding the use of digital technology and discovered how we could make their work easier and convince them that digital tools are not a burden.” “We have also provided education on the intention and purpose of Emram, as a basis for their support in achieving patient safety and building a system to support the best clinical decision.”
“We have gained a lot of ideas [from the HIMSS EMRAM]Including building a digital technology system not only as an administrative need, but also how to develop it for patients and better medical quality. “
Glenda Angeli, COO, SMC Telogrejo Hospital
More than digitization
SMC Telogrejo now plans to undergo a Hisss Digital Health index. It also prepares its system to enable the patient’s remote monitoring as a value -added care to improve the patient’s experience more.
“After checking the health of the Emram, our digital transformation becomes more detailed: every part of the information we process becomes more ideal and accurate with more organized data.”
B. Roberto Tampubolon, Corporation Information Technology Officer, SMC Telogrejo Hospital
Angeli added: “Emram 6 has improved our patient’s experience – Google review to 4.9 – and our doctor’s consent; all our quality indicators are also improving.”
“Digitability is much more than just making everything digitally; it’s how we use the digital technology of our full effort and our heart in the safety of patients and customer satisfaction.”
