South Korea bans new downloads of China’s DeepSeek AI

South Korea has banned new downloads of Dibsic’s Dipsik chat for artificial intelligence (AI), according to the country’s personal data protection control authority.

The government agency said that the artificial intelligence model will be available again for South Korean users when “improvements and treatments” are made to ensure its compliance with the country’s personal data protection laws.

In the week following the headlines of international newspapers, Deepseek became very common in South Korea jumped to the top of the application stores with more than a million weekly users.

But its high popularity also attracted a scrutiny from countries around the world, which imposed restrictions on application on concerns about privacy and national security.

South Korea’s personal information protection committee said the Deepseek app has become unavailable in the Apple and Google Play app store on Saturday evening.

This came after many South Korea government agencies prevented its employees from downloading Chatbot to their work devices.

South Korean President Choi Sang Mocou Dempsic described as a “shock”, which can affect the country’s industries, outside artificial intelligence.

Although new downloads are suspended, people who already have their phones will be able to continue using it or may reach it via Deepseek.

Dibsic rocked the technology and markets industry and America’s confidence in its leadership is Amnesty InternationalWhen she released her latest application at the end of last month.

Its rapid height as one of the world’s favorite chat tools has raised concerns in different judicial states.

Aside from South Korea, Taiwan and Australia also have Block it from all government agencies.

The Italian organizer, which was briefly banned in ChatGPT in 2023, did the same with Deepseek, who was asked to address concerns about its privacy policy before it is again available on application stores.

Meanwhile, the United States’ lawmakers have proposed a draft law prohibiting a federal agency, citing monitoring concerns.

At the governmental government level, Texas, Verginia and New York have already provided such rules for its employees.

Deepseek (LLM) contains thinking capabilities that can be compared to US models such as Openai’s O1, but requires a small part of the cost of training and operation.

This raised questions about billions of dollars in the infrastructure of Amnesty International in the United States and other places.
