The Victims of the Trump Administration’s China-Bashing

Evert F. Dramrait, the American Consul General in Hong Kong, that the United States is facing a serious threat to its national security. It was in 1955, and consular officers were trapped by the Chinese people who were seeking to flee the mainland and migrate to the United States, claiming that they were American citizens through a parent. According to Drumright, all of them depended on almost fake documents. He issued a report of eighty -nine pages, loaded with racial hint and anxiously about the country’s infiltration by “Chinese Communist agents”, in which he warned that China was preparing to exploit the American immigration system “to serve its purposes alone.”

Shortly after Drumright presented his report, Federal Prosecutors began achieving a widespread achievement of Chinese society. In New York, the general prosecutors announced that they had discovered a vast criminal plan that was smuggled into thousands of American immigrants, including the Communist agents who have “hidden skills”, and a newspaper was placed by the “Chinese Red Government”. Ultimately, public prosecutors brought cases against nearly sixty defendants-heroes, dishwashers and others-with a variety of migration. However, the results were not revealed by anything like the complex spy process developed by Drumright.

Late last month, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio announced that the Trump administration will begin to “cancel” the visas of Chinese students strongly, including those who study in “critical fields” and those “with ties with the Communist Party.” (The party has some ninety -nine million members and is intertwined with almost all aspects of Chinese life.) This declaration is the last effort in the attempt to manage the apparent to force rupture between China and the United States in April. (Last Thursday, President Trump said he and the leader of China, Xi Jinping, a “very good phone call” and will hold a new round of conversations.) At the end of May, Trump officials prevented exports to China from certain technologies, including those related to jet engines and semi -conductors. In another step, it appears to be calculated to send a message to Beijing, the Ministry of Justice announced its charges last week against researchers – “citizens of the People’s Republic of China” – to blow them to the last summer countries last summer, breaking the “head lesion” in the grains, as the prosecutors said it was “a potential weapon of the protore.”

The Drumright report is a reminder of the period in which doubts of Chinese origin in the United States, Donald Trump, during his first term, in reference to China, said that “almost every student comes to this country is a spy.” A recent survey conducted by the American Asian Foundation found that forty percent of Americans believe that Asian Americans are more loyal to their country of origin than the United States

Chinese citizens who have been studying in the United States have long have provided a link between the two countries. In 1854, Young Wing became the first Chinese graduate of an American university, and obtained a diploma from Yale. In 1872, with the support of the Cheng government, he established the Chinese educational mission, which brought one hundred and twenty Chinese students to New England. In 1881, anger at immigration increased, Chinese officials closed. The following year, Congress approved the Chinese exclusion law, with the exception of workers from entering the country. Cuttri of missionaries, diplomats and business leaders were pressed to reduce students ’entry. By the early twentieth century, hundreds of Chinese students were on the American campus. When the Communist Party in Mao Zaidong seized power, in 1949, it found nearly four thousand themselves to be stranded in the United States and suddenly embodied in doubt. They were subjected to federal agents to interrogation and even prison. It took several years before the hysteria faded. In 1965, a comprehensive new law put Chinese – and other Asians – on an equal footing with any other people trying to enter the United States in 1979, and Deng Xiawing, who was determined on the modernization of his nation, diplomatic relations between countries, and Chinese students began reaching Jad. Their numbers rose again in the middle of the miss, as China’s economy has become increasingly strong with the global economic system.

Today, there are two hundred and seventy -seven thousand Chinese students in America. Many of them were children during Auths, when the China market was opening. Lewi Zhang – not his real name – was born in Beijing, the son of a police officer and a nurse. When Zhang was four years old, his parents bought a group of Disney Disney tablets, and watched them all. He was his favorite “Winnie The Pooh”. When he grows up, TV shows such as “How I Meet Your Mother” and “Breaking Bad”.

English improved in Zhang quickly, and caused all this TV viewing his view of the world. He understood that people in other countries lived differently from those in China, governed by an authoritarian system. He joined a prestigious university near his home, but he was found in the required propaganda classes. During his preparatory year, he won a scholarship for a university in California, where he flourished. He returned to Beijing to resolve the application to the graduate school in the United States, only to intervene the epidemic. In the end, he joined the press program on the West Coast. After obtaining his degree, he got a job at school, and benefited from a special extension of the student’s visa for additional training in his field.

Earlier this year, Zhang began seeing reports on Chinese social media for students whose visas were canceled and their legal status was terminated. The word has spread that many of them had previously faced with the legal system, even for simple fragrance. (In late April, federal officials revealed that they had operated the names of students through a computerized index that includes criminal historical information.) A few years ago, Zhang got a quick ticket. Now worried that this made it weak. He said that he and his peers feel “a constant feeling of panic.”

The US diplomatic approach to China has long been fluctuated between conflicting Credos – either it represents an existential threat to geopolitical stage or should be involved as a possible partner. President Trump’s request is permanently placed on eggs. Last Wednesday, he issued an advertisement targeting international students at Harvard University, as it has repeatedly protested the Chinese threat and accused China and other “foreign opponents” “of exploiting the student visa program for inappropriate purposes. The alarm rings, as well as the cost of excess. ♦
