Man with Taser, tape and rope accused of stalking, trying to kidnap Memphis mayor

A man who was found with Tasser, rope and adhesive tape was accused in the neighborhood by chasing and trying to kidnap the mayor of Memphis, Tennessee.

Trenton Abston, 25, is being held in Shelby County Prison without sponsorship or bonds listed and the appearance of the court scheduled for Friday, according to prison records.

The Memphis Police said in a statement that Abston was charged with an attempt to kidnap, chase and strict criminal assault. Police said they believed it was targeting Paul Young.

It was not clear whether Abston had a lawyer. The General Defender Office of the region did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
