Time to commit to culture and the arts | Arts

Charlotte Higgins truly on the 60th anniversary of the famous Jenny Lee Lee Lee (“Worse than the 1980s” – this is the arts sector now. It is not a good look at the work government, February 1). Miscellaneous, I was not the first minister of art but he was also in the cabinet, and Arnold Godman As head of the Arts Council, the Labor Party was able to oversee an unprecedented expansion of all arts with new theaters, concert halls and arts growth in education. No grant of the Arts Council came without a clause to work in schools.

I was grateful for the Arts Council grant to study the Arts Administration. With the construction of new theaters from Coventry to Chichester and Birmingham to Bromli, an urgent need for new skills was needed. The main actors of Lawrence Olivier, Michael Ridgrev and John Neville, along with bright young directors such as Gils Hawakh, and seasoned hands like Lorreier Leicester and Asali Vincent WallaceThey were all progressing with permanent reference companies with an increasing talent of Jin Asher’s quality, Mourin Liebman and Shab Judy Dench. The theatrical writer like Harold Pinter, John Ardeen, Arnold Wescker is implemented in theaters up and down on the ground.

This has now disappeared in the past twenty years, and the new Minister of Culture had nothing to put in place. As Charlotte Higgins really concludes, this commitment to culture is still in the same way today, and it is time for this government to rise to a promise to me and inspire us again.

Calos Gulpinkian report Arts in schools: principles, practice and savings It was published more than 40 years ago. At that time as an art teacher, I remember all the activities that exceed the semester presented by schools: musical performances, dangerous drama, cyclones, orchestra, jazz bands and rock music groups, with students and leadership of enthusiastic teachers. These activities were a starting point for many young men working to enter and get successful jobs in the arts. I agree with a lot of Charlotte Higgins article, but there is a need to change from A to Z: education, education, education.

I agree with Charlotte Higgins about the importance of arts in the UK culture, but anywhere in its article, it reminds our universities. Arts Humanities sections have been neglected for years, and many of them are threatened with closure. Keir Starmer’s speech before the elections mentioned the importance of art, drama and music in schools, but where will we get our teachers in the future when these subjects are no longer taught at the university?
