Exclusive: Tobias Menzies Join the cast of Ruben Östlund’s upcoming film The entertainment system is down. Sources say he replaces Joel Edgerton who had to part ways with the film due to scheduling conflicts. Menzies joins a cast that includes Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Dunst, Nicholas Braun, Samantha Morton and Daniel Brühl. A24 handles local distribution.
The film is another social satire from the director, set on a long-haul flight where the entertainment systems fail, and a select group of international passengers are forced to face the horror of boredom.
The project will be Östlund’s second English-language film and seventh Mongolian guitar (2004), reflex (2008), He plays (2011), force majeure (2014), The arena (2017) and Triangle of sadness (2022). The latter two won the director the Palme d’Or He wasWhich means he is one of the few directors to have won the award twice.
