Twofer: Rufus Wainwright ‘Dream Requiem,’ L.A. Opera ‘Ainadamar’

“Ainadamar” from Osvaldo Golijov has arrived in Los Angeles. The opera, one of the most satisfied of this century, depicted the 1936 political execution of the poet Federico Garcia Lorca during the Spanish Civil War during the last minutes of the life of actress Margareta Xirgu. She is about to go on stage in Lorca’s play “Mariana Pinida”, about the heroine of a previous Spanish revolution.
