David Blaine Talks Pushing his Limits in New Series ‘Do Not Attempt’

David Blin It has made us blowing people’s minds. The magician and Mentalist are famous for endurance effects, such as burying himself alive for seven days and carrying his breath for more than 17 minutes. But he also went viral with his filming charm Tricks, they are often shot on the street while watching strangers and interacting with them. By expressing their lack of believing, it was known that people were fleeing screaming or even exploding in crying while Pleen maintains his deadly façade. Their responses are often unforgettable like the same trick – as Harrison Ford pulled his playing card from inside a newly cut orange and told the illusion immediately, “Get the curse on my house.”
But now, it was Bleen who interacted with the lack of belief in what he called “the magic of real life” in “David Blain:” The Six Six Parts “David Blain: Don’t try“March 23 launch on National Geographic before Disney+/Hulu hit the next day.
People have strong responses to your tricks but in this series, you are on the other side – you are the person who is completely promoting.
Exactly, I am the person who escapes screaming, “This is crazy!” This is different from this offer. So I really see when I see my favorite magicians do things – scream and get crazy. But when I do magic for others, I must respond. You can see a real look at me sometimes. In my first show, “Magic Street”, there are girls running away in my face in Times Square, and if I look closely, you can see me breaking a smile. But I am trying hard not.
Is this wonderful character, a dangerous character, is different from the real David Blain? How did that developed?
When I was six or seven years old, my mother was a single mother in Brooklyn, and gave me a set of taro cards. I will do magic for her friends, and they will get crazy. I thought to myself that if there was a real magician, he wouldn’t go: “Ta-Da!” It will be the opposite. He was doing something amazing and allowing him to sit, let them ask what I was thinking about. So when I started filming and making television programs, I kept it. The “lesser approach was more”. But at the time, a lot of magicians were really angry because magicians were supposed to have a crackling. I don’t say anything I was almost joyful. I felt in good health.
But we see a very personal aspect of you in “Don’t try.” Were you ready to reveal this?
no! Certainly not, and still not. The funny thing is, all my friends, they love this offer because this aspect they know me. They all love the ridiculous side of me. But for me, it is very embarrassing to show it.
Have you ever thought about the liberation around him or monitoring yourself?
When you do these things, you do not think much about this part of it. You focus on learning something like that, you do not filter yourself, which is rare for me. Again, this part was exceeding my comfort area, more than sitting with the black mambas.
I think the main question that people may want to ask you simply: “Why?” Why do you put yourself through these frightening experiences? I have my own answer to that, but I love to hear from you.
Let me hear what your answer is.
Why not? I do not follow the experiences, but if you have the opportunity, then why don’t you take it?
exactly. There is also something that can be said to test your borders. If you see our Brazil’s episode, you are meeting Kareena. It is a doctor who walks on the lava, and we did not enter into its full background, but it was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Her doctor told her that she will not be able to work normally. She could not get out of the bed. It was worse and worse, and doctors said that at this point, there is nothing we could do. She said, in her mind, “You know what? Since there is nothing they can do, I will go to do the crazy things that I dreamed of. I will boil the Mount Everest. I will walk on volcanic lava.” She feels that pushing herself to this level and extremist, she got rid of the effects of Lyme disease and not only normal, but she feels better than ever. So I think there is a large part of me who thinks to go out there and push yourself, not be comfortable.
But comfortable can be nice.
It is funny, when I imagined them they were talking about different ideas and works. I said: “Here is your teacher. When you say it to me, you should be uncomfortable to explain what you want me to do. And if that makes you uncomfortable to say that to me, it may be true.” So I need to pay myself.
Did these endurance tests prove that they are useful in real life?
This is how it really started, while trying to overcome simple problems. As you know, the last name of my family is Weiss and Harry Hodini’s name was fine. So I felt this strange link. When I was five or six years old, I found a book in the library and read how it could carry his breath and do all these things. I would like to pay myself with my own things. I was in the YMCA swimming team and I was not like other children, so I thought I would try not to turn my head into breathing. The coach will say, “You need the heart of your head and breathing!” And I say, “Why?” In the end, I can do several rolls, go back and forth, and then compete against older children. So I started building this love for mental use to overcome physical restrictions.
There was a period of time I was kept on the media or the characters that seemed inspired by that – I am thinking about Jim Curry in the “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” or “South Park” episode. What do you think of these?
I love all of that! with [“Burt Wonderstone”]They actually asked me about it. I said, “Well, do not do exactly …” So they deviated a little and made it a mixture of people. But I love this vocal simulation, and make me laugh. “Street Magic” on YouTube a day was amazing – that was Mikey Day before it was on “SNL”. Again, these are the things that my friends find it honey. The only thing I asked about is “South Park” because they will make me say “Twah” at the end of the sentences. So I asked them, “Where did” Two “? and [Matt Stone] He told me, “Oh, there is a man who went to high school where he always said” Twah “and I had to use it, so I threw him there.”
A clear but sincere question: Do you believe in true magic?
Anytime I see my daughter to do anything, this is a real magic. This, for sure, is a real charm.
