Qumra, which means “the camera”, mixes in Arabic, a creative workshop, a joint production market and festivals. It was established by the Doha Film Institute (DFI) to help enhance the first and second works, most of which are by Arab directors, and to create coordinated communication opportunities between Arab and international films.

DFI is a major driver in the Arab film industry, and it also provides funding for Arab TV series over the past few years. Qumra 2025 will include a selection of the best Arab films in different stages, as well as some TV projects.

DFI films in Berlinali this year included the entry of the competition “Yunnan” by director Amir and Fakhir Al -Fakhry, who was born in Kiev, Ukraine, for Syrian fathers from the Golan Heights.

“We are really honored to welcome some of the most popular designs in the world,” said Fatma Hassan Emahi, CEO of DFI in a statement. “By sharing their acquaintances and experience with the participants in Qumra, they will inspire a new generation to improve their craft, and they irrigate permanent bold stories that will form the future of the cinema.”

“Cinema is not only the stories that we tell, but silence between – the spaces in which the meaning means. In Qumra, this silence is echoed loudly, as the emerging sounds are amplified through the wisdom of Qumra professors. It is a place to transform, Where the future of the movie is not dictated, but it is discovered. “
