What are your memories of watching early news?
I can really remember any time when Fidel Castro would have an interview. It was always a big moment, right? I remember that my father was watching the interview and then decided whether it was a fair interview or not, and I had an open conversation about it. So I hear about fair conversations all my life. I see what it means and how viewers interact with that.
Did this inspire you to go to the profession?
I do not know if this is an inspiration as much as it was a testimony of the importance of the news. My family relied on the news. They wanted to know what was happening in their homeland. They wanted to know what was happening in America. They listened, and they trust these people.
What made the powers that you decide that you should do this “The upper story” during the “night standing”?
In fact, it was my idea.
Now, in this country, it should be everywhere. I did not want to lose what we created for three and a half years. Ten or 12 years ago, I went to my friend’s house in Los Angeles and has a record player. I think he played “sticky fingers” from Rolling Stones. We are only cold and listened to the album. And I thought, “What a great experience.”
Then I realized that the other fun part of the records is just finding and collecting them, and trying to get original pressure. I have Wilson Pique’s records that were made in Spain. I have Beatles records where the font notes and the album cover are different languages. I have a room where I have – you seem to walk in a box. It is the place where I read the paper sometimes. It is the place where I am preparing for the big elections. I will be there for hours. How to comfort.
What is on the rotating disk at the present time?
I am at the stage of the difficult stage, so I listen to a lot of Blake arts, and a lot of Adderley. I was trying to find great albums. This wonderful collection of five records of Bruce Springstin, the running that he had in the late 1970s, was picked up. And a wonderful album, which it turned to, is “from Elvis in Mimphis”.
