Why do people use telescopes to consider space but not perspectives? – Niraj, 6 years old, Arlington, Massachusetts

Go abroad now. What is the farthest you can see? tree? bird? What about the moon? It is 250,000 miles away. The sun is 400 times, about 100 million miles (but do not look at it properly).

But why do you stop there? Once darkness becomes, you can search for planets in our solar system. Usually, the most common is Jupiter, which can be the Earth’s distance from the Earth six times as much as the sun. The farthest visible planet of the naked eye is Saturn, which can be twice again. It is not bad for the eyes she was born.

The stars are even further. most Constellation You can see several hundreds of light years.

If the darkness is really and you know where to search, it is possible that Galaxy Andromeda is the maximum of your naked eyes, two million light years away. Despite that distance, it still seems very large – about the size of your hand in the length of the arm. But why is it difficult to see? Because it is very faded. This is a function for an endoscope or telescope.

Telescopes are not the only way to see space

Two eyes are usually better than one.

Your eyes are spacing a few inches, so that they provide a little different views. Thanks to the way the human brain combines the currents of images coming through two eyes, most people see the world deeply in three dimensions, not like a flat image.

Persons are designed to amplify this effect. For this reason, wildlife monitors like to use perspectives. Birds and distant animals in the 3D are amazing, which makes you feel as if you can communicate with and touch them.

This special quality of endoscopy works better at distances that are not very large compared to the extent of dispersal of the endoscopic lenses. This means that it is not easy to make it work when you look at a very far star. As a result, astronomers often make them with one image. It is much cheaper and simpler to control one telescope instead of two.

Telescopes have some negative aspects of beginners. Most people searching for an astronomical telescope for the first time are baffled by the gossip of an enthusiastic astronomer. Why? Because they see nothing! They are not used to looking only with one eye – which is very difficult.

In addition, the view of high magnification is completely uncommon: there are no features, no feeling of size or percentage. Just a small piece of the sky visible, and it is often turned upside down and back.

Perside – which are basically just the telescopes that have been installed together – are suitable for all these problems. You can still see what I saw with your own eyes, but in more details. Everything is brighter. New things are not familiar by both eyes, so your mind accepts them more easily. Your eyesight has been run, instead of replacing it.

The tool you use depends on the job under implementation

What you are trying to do dictate whether you should use a telescope or endoscope.

Astronomers have two goals. One: Collecting as much light as possible from dims such as galaxies. Second: Create very sharp photos, so that they can do things like finding planets around a distant star.

Most astronomical telescopes begin with this first goal, as it behaves like light properties. They collect millions of times more than your little pupil, and then focus on it so that very low things can be studied.

To monitor something small-like Saturn, or Jupiter’s clouds-you need a higher display of mining, perhaps 100x or more. You can’t hand in zoom over about 10x; The image becomes very useful, so you need a pregnant woman, like a traibod.

The small vision field means that you also need a way to accurately move and follow your goal with the ground rotation. Such a mountain costs the telescope itself. For most scientific projects, one point of view is all that is required, so astronomers use the telescope with an overwhelming majority.

But to explore the sky with your eyes, the priority is a big vision. To sweep the wonderful stars fields in the Milky Way, or discover the strange glow surrounding the children’s stars in the Orion Nebula, the endoscopes are a great choice.

They are compressed and portable and do not need a mountain. It is much cheaper than a decent telescope as well. Get the largest objective lenses that you can (50 mm or more) and keep the zoom decrease (10x or less).

So why do astronomers use perspectives?

Telescopes are not better in nature in looking at the space from the perspectives. Yes, astronomical telescopes, with their giant lenses and strong support systems, are more powerful than perspectives that you can carry. But it returns to size. Both the tool depends on the same visual principles to do this task.

For a long time, in fact, we, astronomers – and most of them failure – try to use perspectives to consider space! The combination of images of separate telescopes is a real challenge. You need perfect pictures of each, with computers corrected for turmoil about 1000 times per second. Your mind is very good in combining the information to the extent that technology has not been truly discovered yet.

But a new observatory has just opened in Arizona, the Great Microscope Telescope. It uses a pair of identical telescopes with a diameter of 8.2 meters-around the largest mirrors that can be made-for one holder. The large microscopy will be able to act like your eyes and your brain to create incredibly sharp images of very low creatures.
