What is the exact line?
Calligraphr is a web -based program that will help you convert handwriting into a line. You do not need photoshop or any photo editing program, just access to a printer to print one of the font templates. Then draw your alphabet using the mold. When you’re done, you can take a picture of your phone and then edit individual letters in Calligraphr. It is very reasonable – you can do a lot with the free version, and the full jobs cost $ 8 for a month or 24 dollars for six months. The payment is not renewed automatically, which is great.
When did you start using Calligraphr?
I have tried a group of DIY font makers, and sin is the easiest to use that you have found so far, with the most professional results. In early March, a workshop to make lines with some friends was hosted as a set of informal skills and an excuse to meet and eat snacks. I did a full sample of my plan using Calleigraphr to get to know it, and it took only a few hours.
Both my friends were able to complete their line in the afternoon (more or less – two said they had to finish cleaning files that night before export). It was an enjoyable and enjoyable project!
When I draw Photo stories and graphics storiesI need a handwriting line for dialogue, illustrative comments, and text. Traditionally, cartoonists will do all these letters by hand, but many of us turn the handwriting into a line. I must write very slowly in order for the handwriting to be read – my notebooks are really incomprehensible – so letters are digitally a border necessity for me. Before using Calligraphr, I was the last line I made in 2019 (I could not remember the program I used), and I knew I needed to set. There were some problems in the spacing and the bond in this line, which I wanted to make it look more natural and more similar to real handwriting.
What do you like about it?
It is easy! It’s cheap! It’s fast! For such a simple program, you can do a lot From modifications. You can include the variables, so that you have multiple letters for one letter, and the line will assign different variables randomly when writing, which creates a more hand -drawn effect. It is useful to be able to adjust the filling around each individual letter, since all letters need a different space around it in order to look readable and correct. “O”, for example, has a negative space in its four corners, while “H” has nothing. So I made the surrounding square around “O” more tight than “H” until these letters look properly when I use them in a word or a sentence.
The function of the ligament, which comes with the paid version, is also useful, especially if you write in a manuscript or link certain letters when writing quickly (when I write “G”, for example, I tend to connect “N” to “G”, even if you do not write in a misleading form). One note here is that you need to make sure that you have been enabled in InDesign or Photoshop (or any program you will use your line, after completion) until these differences work.
Does anything you wish you wish to be different, or do you think it will improve it?
The letters can take some time to clean – sometimes there is a random spot in the background, or one part of the line a little – but the tools are really clear. It takes a little getting used to.
Who do you recommend?
Anyone who wants handwriting, regardless of the design/technical ability. You can use it for professional purposes or for fun only – I am thinking about using it to send Christmas cards, because I love mail but I hate writing by hand (and I am so dirty that people may not be able to read what I write, anyway).
