Former Fox News Host Pete Hegseth Confirmed as Defense Secretary

Former anchor for Fox News Channel Pete Hegseth He was confirmed by a narrow vote in the US Senate as Secretary of Defense, a victory for the president Donald Trump Despite disturbing allegations about Hegseth’s behavior and questions about his suitability for the job.

Hegseth’s confirmation was secured in a late-night vote only when Vice President J.D. Vance intervened to break a tie after three Senate Republicans voted against him. Hegseth has been accused of sexual assault and has a history of alcohol abuse. His candidacy appeared in doubt earlier in the week when another person came forward with allegations that he had abused his ex-wife.

Hegseth co-hosted the daytime show “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Fox News from 2017 until late last year when he resigned after Trump nominated him to oversee the country’s military. He previously served in the National Guard and was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. But from the beginning he was criticized by many military professionals as shockingly unqualified to lead an organization as large as the Pentagon.
