MLB could introduce Automated Ball-Strike System in 2026 season

Computer technology to attract ball/strike calls can be in place for the 2026 normal season. Mlb Commissioner Rob Manfred said that the use of the automatic strike system by the 11 -man competition committee, which includes six representatives of the administration.
During a spring training experience in 288 games, the teams succeeded in 52.2 % of the challenges of the ball/strike using the automatic strike system.
“I think we will continue the possibility of change in this process and we will see what appears at the end,” said Manfred. “The difference is really positive about ABS. I have this unlawful system that I use: my traffic. My distinctive contemplation is that using ABS in the spring training made people more likely to complain about balls and give call email to email to the need for ABS.”
An experience with a technology system to challenge calls began to be examined in the A Florida State League category on May 20. This is not under study to use MLB in 2026.
“I think we have to overcome the horsemen in terms of carrying out the ABS or not doing so before you enter into the complexity of a separate type of challenge,” said Manfred.
