Starliner astronauts retrieve failed component in challenging spacewalk

Starliner Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore picked up outside the International Space Station on Thursday, which represents 239 in orbit by carrying out a task that was originally planned for a spacecraft last summer. In this process, Williams became the most experienced curiosity in the world, as it recorded more than 62 hours outside the laboratory during nine trips through multiple missions.

Her last picnic began at 7:43 am EST time when she and Wilmmore switched her spaces to the battery capacity and went to recover the defective S-BAND antenna installed on an external storage platform. Two previous attempts to recover the unit did not succeed.

The device was not designed to retrieve space, and it took Williams and Wilmmore longer than it was planned to accomplish the task. But thanks to improvisation and muscle strength, the third time was magic.

“The team was incredible,” Williams responded from The Quest Airilock when Eva ended for five hours for five minutes. “I know that we were not the first, we were not even the second crew who was doing this, but in some way, with all their great work, we were able to accomplish it.”

“It is possible that this is the most involved spacecraft, which may have been every specialization in the ISS program, as much as Sony and I, I worked!” Added.

After retrieving the antenna, Willymor collected the nearby ventilation holes to help researchers determine whether any microbial life from inside the station has managed to reach the outside and stay in the space environment. The third task, which pledged to a backpoted stereotype for potential use if armor reforms is needed, has been postponed to the future curious corridor.

When going to Spacewalk on Thursday, or Eva, Williams has recorded 56 hours and 40 minutes outside the station during eight previous games while Willmor had risen 25 hours and 35 minutes from Eva’s time during four trips.

With its latest spacecraft, Williams moved to the pioneer of retired astronaut Beji Whittson for 60 hours and 21 minutes from space time to become the most types of female space in the world, as it moved to the fourth number in general.

Hanging on the station since last June due to NASA’s concerns about the safety of the Starlener, Williams and Wilmores now to return to Earth At the end of March On board Spacex Crew Dragon Ferry, which carried two other stations – Crew 9 Commander Nick Hague and Momentaut Alexander Gorbunov – to the laboratory Last September.

This dragon crew was launched with two empty seats specifically to the transfer of Williams and Wilmmore to Earth at the end of the 9th crew mission, which was planned in late February. But an additional month was later handled to give SpaceX more time to complete checks before the trip from the 10 Dragon crew, which will make her journey before marriage.

President Trump Earlier this week He blamed for their long stay in space in the Biden administration and said that he asked the SPACEX owner Elon Musk to return William and Wilmore to the homeland as soon as possible.

But astronauts are not cut off. They were entrusted to the house to the station since last September and could return them to the ground in a short time if I asked for NASA.

But this would cause major disturbances in American research on the laboratory because only one astronaut in NASA – Don Bette – will stay on the station with two Russian crew colleagues until the crew of 10 students arrive at the end of March.
